body filler smell?
« on: December 08, 2007, 08:19:35 AM »

Just a quick question. I'm going to be doing some repair work on my bridgestone 90 on the rear fender it's pretty rusted so I bought a trailer fender with the same contours and I'm welding that on. I'm just curious because seeing as it's like -25 out I doubt being able to use some filler is possible so I was wondering how smelly is it? is it like aerosol strong or what? because if it's basically scentless I could probably apply it in the house and let it dry but otherwise I'll have to take it to work to finish.

Smells good. Better than scented candles. Seriously, it's definitely not odorless. I don't think the vapors will kill ya though.

You don't want to apply it to cold metal.

Well, it's made with polyester resin like what is used for fiberglass.   It does have a faily strong smell.   Smells good to me.   'Course, the wife thinks it smells like "strong chemicals!"   lol

lol living with parents and I don't want to get my dad in trouble and the fact he gets migranes from the littlest bit of aerosol doesn't help

Its strong, sorta sweet smell, but its not toxic. DO you have a garage? I use an oil filled electric radiator with a small blower fan on it, it heats the garage in 35F weather to 80F. The key is the fan.
