Hello: I started this rant under "Flyboy01's" Mopar mag ripoff but didn't want to highjack his post. Hello: i quit buying mopar mags i think they all suck. Jamesdart said that I'm letting my subscriptions run out and not renewing any of them. Why?? I am tired of reading the articles slanted to the professional carbuilders with mega million dollar shops. Then the authors insinuate that the average guy is not capable of this level. But please buy my over advertized Rag. The how to build a 600 inch stroker (that is out of the relm of the average guy.) My favorite is the assembly articles with all the great photos showing the beginer how to put his engine togethger. HA if you followed word for word in assembling your engine like they tell you to, you would most likely end up with a very heavy expensive piece of junk. For instance every assembly article tells us Crankshaft bearing clearence is critical be sure you double check it. But not one single article tells the beginning 17 yr old kid what the heck to if clearence is off.(please i know what to do don't waste time trying to tell me.) Then we have the 4 page article on how some guy took a Nash Rambler and stuffed a Buick Nail Head (extra points if you know what a Nail Head is)in it and adapted the afterburner nozzles from a F-16 and mounted twin turbos in each front wheel fender well. Who gives a s____. The extra rare 'Cuda with the mod top material on the hood as well as the roof. Funny how they manage to find these rare cars every month. I wish somebody with a complete set of thes mags would count how many of these rare SURVIORS they have found. The how to build a competive drag car for $2,500. Then they tell us how they lucked nto a full bore 440 that some guy forgot about and picked it up for $200. Bull----my transmission cost more than $2500 and nobody forgets a 440 or any engine. Those articles are a absouloute insult to every racer out here. I could go on and on but you all know what I mean, so I am not subsacribing to or buying any more magazines. This is the reason I hang out here ...Real problems and Real answers from Real car builders. So you either agree with me or not thats okay with me, Just keep twirling those wrenches and don't belive everything you read. Maynard

I used to do that to, but Dallas is very anti-mopar, finding any Mopar magazine anywhere around here is difficult.

man did you hit the nail on the head. i quit subscribing to most a few years ago the only one i subscribe to anymore is mopar collectors guide, and i've been contemplating dropping that. they seem to have jumped on the bandwagon somewhat with only big hitter cars. it bums me out. i could care less if i never see another e-body again. cars like ours would never get the spotlight unless its a sema built car. i still love all mopars but it seems like there are cliques within the mopar hobby. i have yet to read the new "mopar enthusiast" mag. any good?

I have mixed feeling about the magazines, but I rarely subscribe anymore. I've got a fairly sizable collection here and there around the house. I just don't take everything they say seriously.

I'm also a little tired of the mega dollar builders, but I will say this: In every article I read, there is some tidbit of information that can be carried over to a regular guy build. it's the only reason I read em.

Well; i guess i gotta say that I'm from the "other" side of the spectrum. I'm a novice; so i can't really say that the mags give bad advice; or that they aren't complete in their "how to" sections. But I also don't expect a magazine to show me exactly how to put a 426 hemi in my little "A" body. I just buy em because I'm into cars, and I get alot of enjoyment out of reading about "Mopars" in particular. I guess that qualifies me as a "wannabe"; but I suppose that is who a magazines target market would be anyway. To me; they are like a parts catalog with articles and pics of cool cars. By the way; what the heck is a "nail head"?

joe i got so tired when whatever mag i had, got bought out, i think it was nj based. its been so long i forget. maybe mopar muscle? got pissed off and tired of them having the same articles in the different name mags an issue or 2 apart. and really pissed when the same cars started popping up. i cant stand looking at factory restos. id rather look at late model junk. but lets face it there are only so many magazine quality cars out there. and there are only so many things you can do to a car. maybe its not so much the mags but partly the hobby. kind of like a certain mopar event that has gone down every eyar and will never be what it used to be. its not totally the events fault. the cars are just not around like they used to be. the internet is much more informative. of coarse its not as convienient to take a good crap and try to read articles as it is a magazine.

Again, magazine cars are trailer bitches period! If I had an E body that might be a different story, but I dont! Hell, My has an LL vin and aint worth much as far as thats concerned. But a rare car is a rare car. I like to see those, just not in all of one months worth of rags from multiple mags I used to buy. Some of the articals have infact been informative, but over and over is what I see. These mags IMO now, are simply advertizement for the baby boomers money. Kinda shitty in my world. I not totally against the mags, unless they refuse to use articals and cars of interest, including members cars from here (thats a totally different story again) I'd buy em up then. What I honestly think needs to happen is: get some new blood, new writters w/ new ideas. Preferably a young gun. No biased crap, no same ol' same ol'! I want to see junk come back to life! From a modest stand point. And I know alot of you here, There's more talent "HERE" to be had then anywhere else. Why throw money at stuff you already new? Hopefully, I didnt offend anybody here, cause if you made a mag or two, congrats! But thats way outta reach for my poor ass. And not every day life for the other poor ..............you know what I mean.

n that mag is to new to give any feedback.. we don't know what direction they are going yet.. but i do know they had the blue GTX wagon in it a month after one of the other mags had it... and the second issue with the dart on the cover has the article about the dart and how the owner paid someone to do the entire thing and how its never been at the track.. but he did win a ton of trophies with it at car shows .... we will see what directions it goes... so far i'm a little disappointed but i will give greg the bennifit of the doubt that he will make it a good mag. just has to grow into it .. if it goes the way of the others then i just won't renew.

Maybe if those who know Greg let him know of their concerns; the mag can keep going in a good direction. I agree that mags like Muscle and Collectors Guide are pretty "closed door"; but after i saw some of you guys in the first issue....that was pretty exciting! (Of coarse i'm kinda biased) Primedia is really closed to the REAL enthusiasts; even in their other publications like Surfer magazine for instance. You have to know; and be friends with the right people there I guess.
