Seen the new aluminum heads that 440 Source is selling in FEB-08? I was looking at them last night. A good alternative to the stage 5 heads and they have 84cc closed chambers and are set up for 2.14/1.81 valves. They flow 280-290 CFM(intake)out of the box and can flow 330 CFM or more with porting . They are asking $899 a pair assembled or $699 a pair bare. Not too shabby ! HUH! I am going to get the bare set when they are available and fully port them . If you have not seen them check'em out !

that seems like a great deal just to have my 906s done 2.14 1.81 my machinist told me 300.00 not to mention hardened seats and bronze guides he is trying to sell me on i know i need the seats but the guides im not sure about but if i went with all of it im probably looking at 500-600 dollars with no porting not to mention the weight savings in the front of an already nose heavy big block a body im gonna have to look into those a little harder

Unreal. They're probably from the same factory making the 440source heads.

My Son and I were comparing the heads at both web sites they appear to be the same head at both places. Might be worth a call to Pro comp Electronics. My machinest showed me their Big Block Chevy head it looked pretty good. If You look at the description it seems they are describing My Victors, who knows!

I'm sure the 440 source heads are the same. The pro comp distributer is the same as the one 440 source sells and its 25.00 cheaper.

I called 440 source last week, they said they arent sure how many sets they will get. I would like to have them, but decided to go ahead with my 346 irons, (big valves ported and milled to 85cc) I know my 499 low deck could use more, but its all I can spring for right now.

Hi Scott, You're right, its for 1 head compared to a pair from 440Source.com I have a set ordered from 440Source because Brandon has made a effort to build a selection of quality parts specific to our interests; he should be rewarded with our support as long as he does this. Thats my two cents worth. Merry Christmas to all.

Does any body know where you can find heads in this price range for a 400 or can you make these work?

i wouldnt rush onto any new head list. what ever happend with the bulldog heads? i would be a little concerned with the longevity of these heads and the china quality control. im not metalurgist but there are things to consider, the proper alloy and heat cycling over the years. i have heard of people that have head gasket sealing issues on motors with tired old aluminum heads. they have tried cutting a fresh deck and the problems didnt totally go away. now that i have added my negative 2 cents, ill be looking foward to everyones feed back on the new heads.

The pics of the Pro Comp heads don't look in anyway similar to the 440 Source heads. They could possibly be from the same foundry, but if so, they are most certainly cast in a different mold.
The Source heads are more similar to the 67 heads than they are to the Edelbrock heads (yes I have examined them), and Brandon helped to design them for a more stock appearance. As for metallurgy and quality, that remains to be seen, but since they are coming from a foundry that casts a good portion of OEM heads, I would be willing to bet that they are going to be excellent.
The "Source" heads are designed, not copied. Any info to the contrary is simply wrong. Yes the design was based on the 67 heads, and “known to work” port designs, but the Edelbrocks were too as were the Indy SR’s, and possibly others.
There is nothing secret or unique about the Source heads, nor is there anything “copied” that is not from 40 years of iron head development. It’s just packaged into a relatively stock looking aluminum package for a dirt cheap price.

Not even close! They have way smaller chambers ,which is what I am after and I like the valve size . With the procomp heads I don't have to change to the bigger valve.

Some of that info is availible at 440 source web site. Not much flow info @lift, but most everything else. " http://www.440source.com/heads.htmSBB

i hope Brandon will post.
He's pretty demanding as far as design and quality of his 440source products. I really doubt the Pro comp stuff is from the same maker , and probably not the quality of the 440 source heads.
I did read a horror story about those Procomp heads----ill try to find the article and post it. It was on here or moparts.

The procomp heads are a completely different head from a different company. The procomp heads are "similar" to the edelbrock victors. This means they require all the "special" items to run them, just like a victor head does. They take high dollar special offset rockers, different exhaust flange angle and angle plugs (usually requiring custom headers), custom fabbed valley pan tray, non-stock length valves, etc, etc. Our head is designed to be able to run ANY parts which will bolt onto a stock head. This includes headers, rockers, intake, valley pan, valve covers, etc, etc. Also, the heads look totally different. They are not from the same foundry or tooling. There is no way that anyone could confuse one with the other, seeing them side by side. Our heads have nothing to do with Procomp, we have developed them independantly of any other company. Thats why the quality is great and the price is so low. We just heard the first shipment could be in stock by Mid January (2-3 weeks). Thanks again for everyone's interest.

I called and talked with someone from pro comp. They do take offset rocker gear ,and they they didn't want to give me all the details on the heads. What a bunch of %@#!*^CRAP! I told him if he wants a sale to tell me about them . I guess I won't be buying any of their heads. Not a good way to sell your product. "Hey lets sell these heads ,but keep everything a secret! "

I don't know about a company with the word "electronics" in their name selling cylinder heads. I have a mental image of the nerds in the IT department at my job with a pallet of heads in the office behind them saying we're gonna be rich.

thats what I was thinking....I think 440Source will be where I order mine from. Of course we are looking around Fall of '08 for me....$$$ I agree with who ever said that Brandon has basically done this for the Mopar enthusiast. Everything I have heard about 440Source has been great and with that I will be spending my $$ with him.
