We'd all be rich if we all had 426 hemi tags and title's. Rebody-ing a car....hope you don't get caught. That is what has made this hobby into something bad. Greed!

Check that "original" Hemi Dart that was on here a while ago . How much of the original body`s left on that? It does have the LO23 vin tag though . Like I said before a $295k VIN tag.

That tag could be off anything. I can't make out one letter or number on it even with my glasses on. For 7.5K he could at least take a ledgible picture. (and offer free shipping anywhere in the solar system )

I reported it to ebay. It does state in their own rules that VIN's are not to be sold. Guess they have a hard time policing themselves........

He still has 8 1/2 hours left, I bet that the "other" item that is included is the dash VIN plate. I wonder if he knows how much deep doo-doo he could be in with the FBI if they catch on.

I know I have seen reproduction fender tags, to replace rusted out or lost ones. Is this illegal also? What the person does with it when they buy it could be illegal. Ed

A fender tag is not the same as a vin tag it is nothing more than a part . If he is selling a vin tag he should be tared and feathered .I really mean it.

I have another item from this car that goes along with this auction 10-1 He has the vin tag also. To bad you cant read the tag. You will most likely see this car at a show as a barn find, or a long lost car.

Not sure about other states, but in Ohio, it is illegal to remove and re-install *ANY* vehicle VIN tag. In fact most of them are riveted on using special rosette rivets that are not easily purchased through legal channels. Of course, the way around this one is to remove the entire dash assembly and install it in another like vehicle so long as you have the title that goes with the dash. Personally with the age of these cars and the dwindling supply of used OEM parts, I don't see the problem with rebody'ing a car that is in complete need of such repairs, so long as it is never sold or advertised as anything other than what it is......a "rebody".
I have cut entire cars (not all Mopars thankfully!!) in half and put them back together over the years, but they were documented as such and were not sold as anything that they were not.

nothing wrong with a re-body. any car that ever had sheet metal replaced is a re-body to some extent; some just more than others.......as long as the parts arent stolen, i dont see any real legal problems.........i have a numbers matching coronet R/T put together with body parts from 5 different cars.

My 68 dart has a complete rear clip from a 67 Dart, we removed the sheet metal from the door jams and sail panel back. My doors are even off a 67 Dart. The only problem i see is the seriel number on the trunk drip rail doesn't match the Vin. But I still have the title from the 67 we cut up. Ed

there are "unmolested survivors" and there is everything else......if i was buying a "restored" car, id want one put together with OEM donor metal; rather than aftermarket chinese metal and/or bondo..........this is why i build my own stuff.
