I have been hearing that J C Whitney has a bad habit of shipping the wrong springs. Has anyone had this problem?? I just checked with a local spring shop and they can make me a pair for my 73 Dart Sport for $250.00. That is about twice what I can get them from J C Whitney for.

Personally, for leaf springs and other important major items I would kinda stay away from the less expensive J.C. Whitney, Harbor Freight type outfits. You don't really know the quality of part you are getting. Mancini Racing and Summit both are competitively priced at around 210 or less for a set. You can get pro or stock oem style thru them. Just my opinion  |

I ordered mine out of JC Whitney in the spring of 06. Mine were manufactured by JRS Spring Company in Detroit MI. I'm happy with them, they hook good. And at the time it was all I could afford. I think they were 119.00 shipped, arrived with no problems.
But since then I have heard of a lot of problems with not getting the right springs etc.

I checked at JC whitney and they only have 4 leaf springs. I called Mancini and asked about their XHD springs but the sales guy didn't know how many leaves where in them.
Does Harbor Freight actually sell leaf springs? I can't ever seeing myself using anything from Harbor Freight in a car.

FYI.......I was told by a Mopar Perfomance distributor to "stay away from the MP brand leaf springs, there garbage"! Anyone else hear anything like that lately? The guy told me that Mopar has some new "low bidder" company making them now and that the quality went way down.

You're right. Harbor Freight no longer sells their heavy duty springs. So I would not go that route. I called their supplier (JR spring) to try to get them direct, but their price was much higher than what JC Whitney used to offer them for. Can't remember JR Spring's price, but after adding the cost for shipping, it was much higher than Mancini. Harbor freight does not sell leaf springs. |

Just finished installing the JR spring XHD leaf's in my 69 dart and actualy test drove it today, rides like a new car. Raised the overall height about an 1.5 inch's. So far so good, I'd check again on that price from Mancini, I ordered from JR Spring after Thanksgiving, part arrived in 3 working days and was cheaper than Mancini, also I asked the mancini rep who made there XHD springs and he told me JR Spring, go figure the middle man
getting richer, while we get poorer.
So far so good with the JR springs. I would recommend them.

Mancini's current price for XHD's = $191 + shipping In October of '07, Rick from JR spring quoted me $135 per side ($270) + shipping. (I just it looked up in my pile of notes) I bet that meathead was confused when I spoke to him. I said "you must mean $135 total". He tells me "No, $135 per spring"  Oh well... The guy from JR Spring also told me that they don't make springs...they just sell them....for what its worth. |

I went to your website and looked at your car and I don't think you would want to compromise your ride quality with that stiff of a spring. Mancini, even though they don't list a year for their spring sets, they do tell you what body style they are for. They have more than one set for the A bodies also. When you go to the website type in leaf springs in the search box and that will take you to where they are. They have some that give you 1" extra height and 2" extra height. Just read under each of their listed spring sets and they tell you that info. Their springs start at 191 and go up to 218 if I remember right. Hope this helps a little more. Personally, I will be getting the 1" higher version and they go for 190.95 a set. They are the closest to stock OEM and are XHD. Nice car by the way, harryhood |

go with espo. their springs are great and a great price. they ride nice. you can get 5 or 6 leaf and they will make them to raise or lower the car from stock height for you. shipping is a lot on a set of springs but they do hit a lot of shows.
