Has anyone tried launching off a 2 step rev limiter.Say 1st rev limit is set where you normally launch your car at,hooked up to the rollcontroll button and you would be at full throttle when you release the roll controll button. You would be eliminating 1 part of the problem of foot braking your car.The time it takes for your mind to see the last yellow and getting the throttle to the floor. You would have to have a toggle switch on the roll controll button one side for the burn out and the second for the launch. When I launch off the trans brake I'm at full throttle and don't use the acc pumps on the carb,I don't know if this would be a problem foot braking or not.Maybe I'm missing something here, let me know what you think.

That is how I launch my car. I haven't stepped up to a trans brake yet. I have two buttons for the 2 step. #1 is the burnout RPM limiter and #2 is for the launch RPM limiter. I put diodes between the switches so that they won't back feed each other. The biggest problem I have with this set up is as track conditions change, making sure that your lauch RPM and line lock will still hold the tires and not push across the line.

hook the 1st step to the tran brake button instead...then there will be no confusion with flipping switches for burnout

Doug 371,thx for the info on the transbrake, that cars figured out .what I was talking about was a non transbrake car running off the linelock and launching at full trottle and the linelock button and not having the transition to full throttle when launch. Dartdragracer,if you are pushing threw the lights keep your foot on the brake even when you have the line locklock ingaged and you won't have that problem.

I'm adding another line lock to the #2 RPM button to hold the rear brakes at the line also. Quick and easy set up. That way as I put the pedal to the floor, all I have to do is let go of a single button to launch the car instead of trying to time the brake pedal and button release. I've tried that in the past and didn't like it. I was more consistant just foot braking with out the line lock and 2 step than trying to time the two. Where I race it seems like if you can't cut a .030 or better light all day, you'll be on the trailer early and doing this the rest of the day.... but usually this...

My plan is for the roll control button on 1 step, and a switch on the brake pedal for the other step.

Just curious.... but why would you need a second switch on the brake pedal if your running a line lock? When would you use it?

Wouldn't using the rev limiter and line lock still put you in the electronics class? I think I asked that question before, and the reply's were it would put you in the electronics class. In that case, why not just use the transbrake?

For the last few years I have been using 4 wheel line lock with 2 step for launch. Toggle switch in dash to go between front line lick, and 4 wheel line lock. Both are done with the same button on the shifter. Stage the car, hit the button, one extra pump on the brake pedal, then mash the throttle on the two step. Has never pushed through the beams at 2700 rpm. Works great for me, consistent .020-.030 lights, and 2 track championships, as well as runner up in Pro at Mopars at the Strip 2005. And no, without a delay box, you will not be in the electronics class.

I didn't think 4 wheel line locks were NHRA legal?

Only place I see in the rule book where it specifically says no 4 wheel or rear line-locs is in NHRA Super Stock class. In Super pro, Pro and Sportsman ET classes, just refers to genereal brake regulations 3.1 and it doesn't say anything about no 4 wheel or rear line-locs there.

You can use a roll control and a the rev limiter and not be classified as having "electronics". That would be having such things as a delay box, throttle stop, etc etc...

Line lock for the burn out on one step, brake pedal switch for the launch on the second step. This is for a torqueflight car with no trans brake, that wants to stage at less than 2000 rpm, the line lock would not be used in staging.
