Electronics Technician for the local school district Self-employed Real Estate Appraiser (trainee with no work for the last few months - at least I have a day job) Soon-to-be Self-employed Notary (hopefully that'll fill the gap between the income and outgo)
The last two should enable me to retire in ten years at 58.

I'm a Network Engineer for AT&T -- I have to work with people around the world that SOMETIMES speak Engrish. Working nights, I work mostly with the Asia Pacific and European regions. I'll say, most other countries try and speak English, except for France. The French I have had to work with refuse to speak English...

I am a Flight Mechanic on a Boeing 747 Freighter for Kalitta Air (yes thats same Connie Kalitta from NHRA drag racing). I work 21 days on and 10 days off for the past 12 years. 3 days on the aircraft before getting to go to the hotel is about average. I have to maintain everything from nose to tail and wing tip to wing tip and it's just you against the machine. There is no reqular sleep cycle or eating times, just whenever you can. Basicly, if the plan is in the air, I'm sleeping. Average ground time is 6 hours but we can turn it in as little as 2 with a good ground crew. Average turn works like this: down loading 200,000 lbs of freight and uploading 200,000, lbs of freight, 190,000 lbs of fuel (thats 28,358 gal)l, sevice eng oils (6 qts each engine) and do a walk around inspection for anything broken and fix it. The plane never stops for much more than a day so you take advantage of any ground time you have to work on it because delays can be as much as $1,000 a minute. I have been all over the world and to some places to do not exist, but seen little except the cargo ramp. I have worked as long as 36 hours straight (ground time only) to get my plane back up, then on to the next stop. On the other hand, I have spent 7 days waiting for a load out in Oostend Belguim, so it's not always rough. If anyone watchs Mith Busters, they used one of our aircraft in a segment.

......................WOW, no wonders I am really thinking of a change, u guys all have really cool jobs. I am a journey automotive technition for Canadian Tire Corporation. I fix any make and model, now I am just tired of all the B/S that goes along with working 4 some1 else. I used to like going to work, now some days its all I can do to bring myself to go to work. I used to come home , relax, then tinker with my toys, now the most I do with them is look at them and all the new/used parts collecting dust, as there is no ambition at all to do anymore than that. There was a time , and not so long ago that I would rush home to play with my toys. I have never been in a rut like this in my whole life and I just cant seem to get out of it.....Ofcourse I am glad to offer advice/help out, answer questions 4 all my BUDDIES, as all I seem to do now is surf the net........U guys R the GREATEST, THANKS 4 the rant...........Kim..........

Critical Systems Engineer for Time Warner and CNN. Basically, I make sure there are no single points of failure in the emergency power. CNN has to be able to broadcast 24/7. Only problem is I've got the system so dialed in, I really don't have much to do. I started a small business called Critical Systems Consulting to liven things up a little. So far I've had a couple jobs doing some thermal imaging. The reason I used the same name for my company as my job title is "Critical Systems" is the new catch phrase in my union. Time Warner created it when they hired me and now the union is trying to run with it and create a whole fleet of us and charge more money for Critical Systems Engineers. It's kinda funny because I've got over 20 years experience servicing and installing emergency generators and keeping them up to hospital standards and the union thinks they're going to teach guys this crap in a 15 week class 3 hours a day once a week. All they're going to do is create a bunch of guys who will start touching things and getting into trouble.

I work as a marine electircal engineer and designer. Been doing this type of work for the past 20 odd years. Was a machinist up in Jersey before moving to Florida in 85. Made good money in Jersey, what they offered in Fl for class A machinist was a complete joke. Got a job close to home at a Sea Ray plant. Built the "small" stuff 30' to 50', now am working on the "big" stuff, a 164 foot mega yacht.
