Hey guys,
Before I get started, please be aware that while I can tell the difference from metric and standard sockets, and can change my own oil and plugs, I'm not the best mechanic, so thanks in advance for tolerating my idiocy.

My car is a 1969 triple black plymouth fury, with a 383 automatic in her. I've had her since 2005, and with the help of my younger brother, we've changed over the carb, intake manifold, alternator, hoses, custom headers, and fuel line. My younger brother was a great help to me, since he was a Ferarri / Bentley / Rolls mechanic, he turned me on to a lot of new stuff I had no clue about, and helped me get a lot done to keep her running well.
When we changed over the old carb in March of 2007, to a Holley Street Avenger, we ran new fuel lines as well, and against my brother's advice, I replaced the fuel filter with one of those glass and chrome "cleanable" ones. As it happens, my penchant for all things shiny finally blew up in my face. In April of 2007, the fuel filter rattled loose, spraying gas onto my headers, igniting the passenger side of the engine compartment.

While we only had a 1/2 bottle of Windex on us to put the thing out, luckily, a passing motorist in a Dakota skipped a gallon of Poland Spring across three lanes of traffic to me on the opposite side of the road and the damage wasn't as bad as it may have been otherwise. The distributor, fuel line, and most of the wiring on the passenger side of the car was destroyed, and the plastic covers on that side of the carb looked a little toasty as well. Since I had to replace the distributor, I elected to upgrade from the orange box to the MSD.
The biggest problem (and why it's taken so long) was finding the wiring. Originally, my brother was going to repair the harness, color and gauge correct, and splice it in, but he got offered a position with Rolls Royce in London, and had to leave suddenly with no time to finish. Luckily, I found a used harness on Ebay for $20 (yes, I'm a lucky guy!)

But it took a lot of waiting for one to come up. The universal harness that Painless sells looked like too much of a daunting project for me to do myself.
So here I am, with new fuel lines, new hoses, a used harness pretty much in place, and the MSD dropped in. I'm confused about some of the wiring issues though, and without the aid of my indentured servant brother, I'm kinda up the creek with no paddle. Here are a few questions for you guys, please pardon me if any of them are overly moronic.
The MSD 8386 doesn't require a box, but I'm confused about where I should be connecting the wiring adaptor to. On the Fury, I have a ballast resistor mounted on the firewall, which I bypassed by taking the blue and brown wires before it, and running them to the positive side of the coil.
Where is a good place for me to wire in the red wire off the MSD splice? I placed the black ground on the headlight ground screw on the passenger side, is that okay?
If you need further pics or info please let me know, I'm really, really appreciative of your help guys!!!
