Anyone ever converted an early A from Auto --------> Manual?
« on: January 13, 2008, 10:23:51 PM »

Hey Folks,

I am seriously considering changing my 65 Cuda from automatic to manual. Despite the egredious dent in the wallet...keisler's 5 spd behind my '03 truck Hemi sounds like fun. I realize the pedals OBVIOUSLY change out...from the FSM it looks like the firewall and the 'brake pedal bracket' are identical. Keisler does not supply the pedals for the Early-A Auto to Manual swap. What about the Z-Bar, it's bracket and anything else...my floor tunnel I'm ready to rework...THANKS!!!

Stupid question but couldn't you just use a factory manual trans and it's related hardware?

you can always go wit ha stock 4 spped tranny,,,if the  5 spped it to much money,,,all tho the 63-66 pedals are different,,i used  a set out of a 70 something dart for many years in my 66,,same as your 65..i used the newer pedals,,and left the orignal pedal support in the car,, just slid the  pedals in,,,,i believe brewers  may have an early Z-BAR,,but the frame mount for the Z-BAR pivot  im sure he doesnt have,,,you wil have to fide a frame mounted ball stud ,all the same from 62-66 6 cyl or v-8,,, or maybe alter a late model Z bar,,and make your own ball stud frame mount,,, i can supply you pics of an orignal,,,to give you an idea ,,,,but it is an eaasy swap,,,i did my first one when i lived in a town home,,,,did it in the parking lot,,
