That sounds like a great deal.  Even with shipping, that would be less than ONE brand new one.  If you can get them for $200 WITH shipping, you stole them!   

Anyway, yeah, those are the ones.   Although I'm using (and prefer) long tube headers for this build, I appreciate the more "stock" look too and am real curious if they'll work on an Abody.   I'm quite sure they'll clear the frame on both sides.   You MAY run into problems with the steering box and column with stock suspension.   Also, they MAY dump out right down near the torsion bars and be difficult to run an exhaust pipe from.   With an AlterK, I bet they'd be perfect.   

Dave Weber, if you're watching, see what I mean about how much more tucked in they are than the LX versions?

Very early in the build.  Engine is on a stand.  Doing body work/metal replacement.  I figure I will bolt on the manifolds and do a test fit with the stock k-frame first.  I'll let you know when I get that far.

Note to Bakaruda, re fuel pump: I'm using a Holley 12-920 in my set-up (5.7L EFI Crate motor in a '68 Barracuda).  I am using stock fuel tank, with return line plumbed into fuel-filler neck, down low, near the frame-rail kick-up. The Holley pump is a re-boxed Walbro #CSL392. I think that it is adequate for stock 5.7 only. Looks just like the Bouchillion pump pictured in this discussion.
I've heard bad things about Aeromotive, but no personal experience. Aloha

WELCOME!    So glad you found us here at      There's a number of us putting the GenIII Hemi in A-bodies and we're hungry for as much information and pics as we can get (hint, hint).   

I saw a post of yours somewhere on the internet with one picture, but we sure would like to see as many pictures as you can find the time to post (?)   

So you have a stock front suspension then?  12.9 - 13.00s surely is not too bad.   Your combo sounds pretty good / potent.   I suppose a little deeper into the 12's is not too great of expectation.   What rear tires are you running at the strip.   Is traction the problem?   

I'll be running a 6.1 / Tremec 5spd. with cam, ported heads, headers and programmable computer.   Rear gears will probably be in the area of 3.70 to 4.10 and I'm HOPING this will get me into the 11s.   I DO want to run either drag radials or possibly even 9" slicks (NHRA Stock Class slicks) whatever it takes to see what it will actually run.

Reply to CudaSRT8, et al: Rear suspension is super-stock springs and pinion snubber. Tires are M-T "ET Street Radials" P275/50/15. 60' times are all about 2.0 seconds, plus or minus 0.05 seconds, depending on track and my launch "technique".

Different subject: Anybody have any suggestions as to how best to deal with E10 Fuel, with an open-loop engine controller (as supplied with the EFI version of the Mopar crate motor). The crate motor wants 58 psi, usually put the f/pressure regulator to 60psi at the track; I am thinking that 62psi might be better to get the btu/gallon number up to the same as pure gasoline - while at the track. I do have a wideband O2 sensor and readout installed. Usually shows about 12.2:1 A/F ratio at the finish line. Should be 12.0:1?

Just in case anyone is interesed.  Here's a picture of the LX car manifold (has been used in Stock suspension a-body, by notching the frame a bit).  It's roughly 6.25" to the furthest point out.


This is the SRT8 Jeep Cherokee manifold, it's about 4.25" to the furthest point out from the engine. I haven't tried it in the car yet, so it maight run right into the torsion bar.

Yeah, the SRT8 Jeep manifold will absolutely clear the fenderwell on the right side.  The question is more whether or not it will clear the steering column.  Also, if running stock suspension, whether or not they dump right on top of the torsion bar.   Another option would be 5.7 Jeep manifolds if somebody didn't car about higher performance.   They are still tucked in tighter than LX manifolds and don't dump down as far, so probably not a problem with the torsion bars...

Thanks for asking.... I am almost finished wiring and installing the dash, should be putting the interior back in it by the end of the week. The plan is to
trailer it to get the front end aligned then a day at the dyno. Then the de-bugging process begins, drive, fix, and adjust everything. So far, driving it around the yard has been a real kick... car has good feel to it.
How's your project coming?

Hey guys. I was directed to this site by "rjsjea". There's some good stuff goin' on here.

Here is what I'm thinking of doing. I have a '71 RR. I know...not a A-body, but cut me alittle slack.... ...OK?

Anyhow, I have had the AlterKtion setup sitting for a year now still in their boxes. I was going to put my 440-6 back into the car, but with this new MP 6.1 crate kit out, I am seriously thinking of going modern. I have been running the Keisler TKO from '01 til I took the RR apart in mid-'04. I was going to install the Billet Specialties front engine treatment and A/C. Haven't decided of whether it will be Classic or Vintage?  I will be watching this thread for all the great feedback and hints. Just wanted to introduce my self.

OK, I'm well on my way. Here's an update.

Purchased the 6.1 Hemi crate kit along with TTI headers just for the AlterKtion/6.1 application. Also bought Weldtech's new mid-sump pan and pickup that clears all the modern new K-members out there like RMS, XV, and MF. Also got all needed ordered from Keisler for the hook up. All parts are scheduled to get here in the next couple weeks.

All that remains for now is to come up with a radiator/fan module suitable cooling solution.
