Ruster - I know this isn't much of a big deal and I'm not the first to do this, but this is how I moved the wiper motor under the dash panel.
1) I first removed the old wiper motor and replaced it with a 1/4" aluminum (5052) plate
2) I used a modern Chrysler wiper motor (in this case from a 2006 Charger SRT8) and fabricated a steel bracket to mount the wiper motor under the dash mating the old with the new.
3) Test fit and tacked together... works super smooth. The geometry is almost identical because of the small size of the new motor assembly.

"My Cuda is an original AC car so I'd eventually like to get the air working. Does the new hemi compressor work with the old system or are they of a different type ie orfice tube vs expansion valve that adjusts during operation. I know some systems are designed so that the compressor runs all the time unless the charge is low or something else is wrong while some systems operate the clutch in normal operation. So basically can you use the new compressor with the old system?" Ruster Ruster, I have not attacked the a/c yet. I have the connectors to hook it up to an aftermarket or stock system from http://www.bouchillonperformance.com/, The guy that really is the best source for parts and info and has built about three of these cars is Dave Weber from Modern Muscle. I met him at Carlisle at a 6.1 seminar along with Herb McCandless. Dave is a first class guy like Bill Reilly. I try to spend my money with the good guys and unfortunately there aren't to many of them. Give Dave a call or check him out at http://www.henrycorods.com/. Regards, John

That motor looks great.........damn I my be dumping my motor and gettin one. On moparts, a dealer there was saying $9,999 msrp from MP WITH the wiring and computer. That 9,999 price is before dealers add their discount to.......so they will be cheaper. They are over 100lbs lighter than a smallblock and conservatively rated @425hp. DAMN..

Thanks, Too much time on my hands I guess! I am using an aftermarket switch for high and low and a relay too. I didn't use the intermittent wiper setting. It's amazing how quiet the wipers are with the new setup. Before it sounded like a Maytag washer.

This is the fabrication I did today for the FAST computers behind the glove box (my new dash is glove box delete). I just built a removable 3/16" aluminum (5052) shelf and put a 90' brake in it for added strength. I welded steel brackets on either side to support it. Completely removable though. I attached the whole thing together using self tapping roll thread screws. If you aren't familiar with roll threads you might want to try them, a little pricey but they work like gangbusters when doing fab work, especially with aluminum.
What a freakin mess with all those wires!!!!!!! I miss the old days.... 12volts and fuel and your otta here!!!!!

What kind of perfromance are we seeing with 3rd gen hemi motors? A stock motor should run what kind of 1/4 mile times. List your set up.

The new issue of Popular Hot Rodding has an article where they take a hemi and add XV's manifold, carb, and ignition kit and dyno test the motor.

The fastest 3rd gen Hemi ran a 11.2...... it was a 6.1L stroker. Most of the 5.7L head and cam only cars are doing about mid 12 and up....... the 6.1 heand and cam cars... some are gettin into the high 11's....... If u do a stroker u can expect to take of about .5 seconds... Those are crazy fast time w/4500lb cars and non adjustable gears or sus. I fully expect my 5.7L stoker to run in the 10's in my dart and 11's in my charger....... And all this is gettin close to 20mpg... completely unheard of. Jason

our fastest 6.1 (stock bottom end) heads and cam car ran a 12.02 in a 4200 lb Charger SRT8
our fastest stock bottom ended car PERIOD ran a 11.4 w/ a 100 shot of dope in a 4500+ lb SRT8 Magnum
Fastest LX period is a 11.2 and is a 426 stroked SRT8 300 who strips everything they can from the car and reaches under the 4000# mark

I'm liking that wiper conversion. Very clevar. I wonder if a bracket welded to the blockoff plate would work. I always melt stuff and set it on fire when I weld in confined spaces. I'm a crappy welder though. Theres nothing I hate more than working under dashes.

HiRuster, I agree, welding under the dash is brutal. However, I use a welding blanket spread out around the interior and keep a spotter standing by with a fire extinguisher handy. I am sure someone will come up with a better way to do it... my job was a bit impulsive when I did it.

COOL! I finally figured out how to post pictures! Here's my Cuda SRT8 engine bay mockup. It's currently in primer w/guidecoat. Will be painted body color when I figure out what color I'm going to paint the car I'll be welding many holes shut, which I mimicked by using some gray plastic sheeting over the holes I'm going to fill. It's late now, but will post more pics later. Have some shots of many of the close tolerance situations I've had to work out...

rjsjea, Yeah, I'm going to run AC. With the AlterK, it's a piece of cake. I'll post some pics (just learned how last night). I'm pretty sure that Bill R. uses the same engine mount base on the AlterK for most of the Mopar engine family. (someone correct me if I'm wrong here) I think all you have to do is get the Gen3 engine mount brackets and bolt the Gen3 in place of where the 440 was. However, Bill places the engines in the stock, crank centerline position, and below is a pic of how close the engine is to the pass. side fenderwell.
