Also, when Bill set up for the Gen3 Hemi, he used the truck front cover. I wanted more clearance for the head / valve cover and I wanted to use the car front cover (alt. and AC pump down low), so I needed to move the engine over a little. I cut the stock AlterK brackets loose and moved the engine 5/8" toward the driver side. (Here's the passenger side view) Then Bill R. was very gracious to send me some new, longer brackets that I notched out and fitted for the new location. Next is the final, welded in result. Driver side (stock). Cut, new bracket fitted up. Welded in place and final position of AC pump. Plenty of room!

Here's some shots of the alternator clearance in the stock position with AlterK. It's much worse with TTI mounts and stock K member. I have pics of that too if you want to see. AlterK with stock crank centerline. Here's the clearance with the engine moved over with frame flange uncut.

rjsjea, Awesome looking engine compartment. I like the angled mod to the AlterK. It looks like you removed the frame flange, so I'm pretty sure all you would need to do is get the Gen3 brackets from Bill and bolt the Gen3 into place. You could use the car front cover and have enough clearance for the alternator. To me, the 6.1 is very "high tech" looking and would look right at home in that "high tech" looking engine bay. Real nice....

buy the way, did anyone notice. page 19, march car craft. part # p5153897. 5.7/6.1 hemi aluminum block. i checked with my local dodge dealer last week, and it's still unavailable. i'm curious what the max bore will be.

I would like to see the other side of the car. I had mine in the middle and the steering was not going to happen with headers. Please post the other side of the engine.

Thanks for the compliments you guys. There's more questions than I can keep up with. I'll just start posting as many pictures as I can with a description and explanation. Hopefully, they will address each question. Keep in mind though, that I'm a picky bastard with regard to this build. You don't necessarily have to go to some of the extremes that I've gone to with this car. You can get the engine to fit without going to the extent that I am doing. I'm being too much of a perfectionist with the execution of my concept of the build. This thing is costing me plenty of money, but so be it. It's likely the last car I'll build (getting older these days) so this car is going to be EXACTLY what I want. Luckily, I've been blessed with enough money to build it and a wife that is not complaining about it. Although, I DID have to agree to NOT buy a Harley Davidson, something I've been hot to have for years

Cary, Here's a couple of shots of the steering column clearance. Again, the studded vc bolts won't be used. There was 1/4 inch of clearance with the column when these photos were taken. Since then, I have massaged the hole in the firewall just a little bit and gained another 1/8 inch. Although I've achieved enough clearance with the stock column, I'm going to go with an IDIDIT column. I won't gain any more clearance, but I'll have "tilt" and I may go with the locking column version. I was going to use a Flaming River column, but they've always had a crappy attitude when I've bought from them. I refuse to patronize their crappy attitude any longer

Here's a shot of the new tunnel I fabbed up for the Tremec 5 speed. You don't have to rebuild the whole tunnel when using the Keisler kit, but again, I'm going to extremes and being a perfectionist NUT on this thing. Would you believe I cut out a perfectly good, original 4 speed hump out of this car? ![\/][](http://www.bigblockdart.com/Smileys/classic/finger020.gif)

This shot shows the interference between the alternator and frame when using the car front cover and accessories and a stock K member with the TTI mounts. You not only would have to grind off the frame flange, but you'd have to notch the frame...

Cary, I suppose the difference in forward / rearward position may have to do with transmissions used. The Keisler trans mount position bolted in while using Bill's stock position for the engine. However, I did have to do a little "persuading". When I cut the mount brackets loose on the AlterK, I relaxed the "tension" that was there and probably moved the engine forward about 1/4". Other than that, I would think it would be pretty much the same as yours? However, a quarter inch can make a big difference when installing these in an A body, wouldn't you agree?.

rjsjea, I had a Griffin radiator custom made for my car. I wanted a stock looking radiator (mine will be painted satin black) and I wanted the tank to look like the one that came in my car. The car front cover has both inlet / outlet pointing to the pass. side. However, the new Chargers and Chryslers use a formed hose that snakes the other direction and goes back over to the driver side, lower outlet on the Charger radiator. My radiator is not as wide as the new Charger radiator, so I'll use the new Charger lower hose and cut a section out of the middle and splice it with a nippled, stainless connector. I've seen this done a lot, even with upper hoses, so should not be a problem and not very noticeable down there. By the way, Griffin charged me a fortune for my "custom made" radiator (it took them 3 tries to get it right), and now they have one just like it that they sell for a competative price. In other words, they let me help them work out all the dimensions (while charging me dearly) so they could offer one to the general public for less. The dirty rat bastards!

I can see where u are running into problems w/the 6.1L but the truck 5.7L hemis like mine have the alt. uptop..... this wouldn't be an issue using stock k frame right?

Yeah Jason. The swap becomes a lot more difficult when you use the car front cover. The truck front cover / accessories are much more "conversion friendly"...

I have very little room between my column and the stud for the cover. I have had a pain in finding headers to fit. I have a plan for some now. My motor sets very close to the firewall.

Rob, No, I don't know the part number. I saw a picture in a Griffin ad somewhere that looked just like my radiator and the ad said A, B, and E body radiators. As much as I thought I was dealing with a top shelf company, they really let me down. I agreed to their hefty price quote; they built it and sent it; it was WRONG, so I sent it back and they said they'd build me another new one; they sent back a butchered repair of the original and tried to pass it off as a new one; I had to go up the management chain and raise hell; they sent another new one where they corrected what they initially did wrong, but took it upon themselves to change something else that I had been very happy with. I'm going to have the new problem corrected here locally. I'm through with them. I always thought Griffin was supposed to be the best???

With the new 6.1 crate motors ,do you have to get a pedal assembly........(drive by wire)...or are there options to have a cable throttle assembly to make it work in an older car??

Either one can be done. Depends on what harness/computer system you use.
