By looking at an actual GC 6.1 eng. compt., you can clearly see how more tucked in they are than the LXs. I then saw a pic on Ebay (correctly described), and they have a different shape and are a little longer.
Dave W. The MP crate Hemi instructions say:
"Grand Cherokee manifolds provide the most clearance when installed in a B or E body vehicle."
They don't say anything about the A.
I continue to be amazed at how cheap some of the late, regular production stuff costs. To experiment, you could try the cast iron manifolds they list (GC) if they're cheap enough:
53013606AB 53013605AB
Of course, these aren't 6.1s, but just for experimentation. I'll always keep my eyes open for the 6.1 Jeeps on Ebay...

SO I just got my bob weight for my 5.7L stroker and it's 1557 grams... I fully expect this engine to be a monster and a very fast reving one at that. This engine build is as follows.
4"bore stroked to 3.796 custom forged CP pistons carillo tapered forged rods 6.1 forged profiled crank 6.1 oil pump Blue giant cobra injectors 6.1 larger chamber heads, ported and polished, manley valves, and springs 6.1 intake.. not sure If I'm gonna port in yet.. I'm not convinced it makes a difference. and of course LT's

USCG, you're outta control I tell ya, you're outta control ! However, I'm reserving the right to do the same with mine I've changed out a Keisler modified TKO500 to an unmodified TKO600 as my mock-up has evolved. I also bought a scattershield to replace a stock aluminum bell and am looking into a SFI approved flywheel and clutch assembly to replace the stock type stuff. This way, I figure if the 425hp plus cam and headers is not enough, I can do upgrades to the engine and the drivetrain is ready for it. What tranny are you going to run with your Hemi?

The manifolds in the Hot Rod article are stock 5.7 log manifolds. If you come up with Jeep SRT8 manifold pictures let me know. I'll keep diggin. Thanks Dave

Had a good day yesterday.... ran my 6.1 in my 68' Dart for the first time after a year of work. Started right up, like it was running the whole year I was putting the car together. Running the FAST system too. After all the wiring, fabrication, fuel lines etc. it's nice to hear it run.
I'll try to get some video and post it.

Always curious to hear opinions about the FAST. How does it look now that it runs? Did you do any program changes ? I have many pix posted all over this thread that show my install. I will post more soon.
As for the FAST, I just hooked up all the computers (FI, IM, Xmsn) and added fuel. I am not in the tuning stage until
I get further along in the build. I was just dieing to hear it run.
Then it's off to the dyno to do some tuning. Some installers just plug n play and that seems to work too.
I also know that the guys in Tennessee at Comp Cams can read the motor on the laptop over the internet and read live data to help the process.

Okay lets talk fuel system. I am running a 22 gallon fuel cell. I am looking at fuel pumps and stuff. So what are you guys doing in this area? I am not spending 1K for a tak and pump. I will be using a inline pump, filter, and regulator. Here is the pump I am looking at now. http://www.aeromotiveinc.com/products.php?cat=1&catsub=1&prod=5

OK, got the motor running as I mentioned. Throttle response is incredible. Also ran the reservoir and cooler for the power steering. Most are not running a cooler, but I had one and a reservoir left over from a new Charger SRT 8 and decided to install the p/s cooler above the trans cooler. Wires are going everywhere in the pix, just was doing a test run before final assembly.
Don't laugh at the ugly temporary throttle cable setup... It's crude but it works for now while I'm getting things together.

Also pictured is the bouchillon performance in-line pump that they sell. I prefer in-tank... less noise and looks cleaner. Aeromotive makes a bitchin pump! I would use it in a heartbeat.

Thanks I think I am going to run the Aeromotive piece. I am looking at some others but the do not hold up to the needed specs.

Gocirino, with that regulator you dont need a return line from the motor??
Bakaruda, are you gonna run the regulator pic'd above with the aeromotive pump??

The return line doesn't need to go all the way to the motor. My return is right in front of the fuel tank with only one line going to the engine bay. I used blue marine fuel line in this application (Coast Guard Approved of course for "USCG Charger") because I like its abrasion and fire resistance qualities and you can bend it into a pretzel shape without kinks. Very expensive though and not as pretty as stainless, but I am building a street driver and not looking for a "Riddler" award if you know what I mean. More go, less show. Also, I converted all the connections to AN -6 except for the filter/regulator. I kept it stock with the "Bundy style" fittings to be able to do a quick change of the filter. The pictures aren't the best but it will give you an idea of what I did. Hope this helps. The first pic shows the two lines in to the filter/regulator "pressure in" from the in-tank pump and "return" to the tank, while the single line out goes forward to feed the motor. What are you guys planning for the power steering pump heat issues? I understand these things run real hot and it's not as interesting a system to work on as say the suspension or engine but I think that if you are planning to power steer it you might need some additional cooling. Dave Weber says he hasn't had a problem with his.... you there Dave?

What is the part number of the filter/regulator ? Where can it be purchased at ? I would love to have that pump in the tank but I know it is really out of my price range. Thanks for the great information.

rjsjea is correct. Dave has the parts and pieces you might consider using if you don't have other plans like Bakaruda, which is a real good choice too. He will fab you a tank or you can do it yourself with a mig or tig. I used 14ga mild steel, a bit on the heavy side but it welds real nice without warpage. You will also need the fuel vent pictured from Speedway Motors ( http://www.speedwaymotors.com/p/5848,283_Fuel-Tank-Roll-Over-Vent-Valve.html) Speedway has a great site and some real nice hardware too.

My fuel system will be like this. Come from the pimp into the filter, then into the pump. From there it will go to the fuelrail, then cross over from left to right. The into a regulator (FMU) return to the tank. This way it has a steady flow of fuel.

Here's a picture of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 manifolds: Definately different than the LX manifolds. I'm trying to get a picture of the other side. Hope this helps.

72 Scamp, Yeah, those are the ones ! The top one is the driver side. Those are turned inside facing outward. Not the best vantage point to look at, but gives and idea of length and a little idea that they don't go outward (away from the engine) as much as the LX version.
Dave Weber, are you around to see these. Yes Scamp, please get a pic of the outward view of them. Many thanks...

I don't actually have these in my possesion. I'm trying to work out a deal on buying them, to try them in an A-body swap. What do you guys think is a fair price? I asked the guy for another picture with the manifolds flipped over.
Thanks

Scamp, I suppose what's fair is what you're willing to pay and what he's willing to accept. That said, I'll suggest some reference amounts from ebay auctions.
When LX versions first started showing up on ebay, they first went for $250-300 per pair, plus shipping (and I could get them new from my dealer for $250 per pair). A few pairs sold in that area and then they started not selling. I was able to grab a pair for $185 including shipping.
I've only seen one pair of the Jeep versions come up on ebay. I checked my price new and they're something like $330 or so a piece. I think the pair on ebay went for $400ish.
I would think if you could get them for a couple hundred, that'd be a steal and not to bad of a gamble to see if they work. I think with an AlterK, you could get them to work. With stock suspension, you may have a problem with steering box clearance.
So, how much does this guy want for them?
