hey Fasbird I am swapping everything I can from a wrecked 07 Charger R/T to a 70 GTX. I have an Alterktion and 4 link Air Ride (will use coil over adjustables). The GTX comes back from the paint stripper on Monday and then some body work and the install of everything will begin. I have a post going on Moparts called MAJOR SCORE where I will document all of this but I will check in here also. At the moment, my big question is which oil pan to use to clear the Alterk.

I got mine from Weldtech and was told it will fit w/ the power rack......car is an Abody.
The truck pan (rear sump) works also. Bouchillon perf sell them for like $200 w/ pickup and dipstick.

Darius, your project sounds cool. I had the '68-70 b-body rear 4-link setup also that I purchased from RMS. Since then the new Street Linx setup for th '71-72 B-body has come out. I worked out something with Bill to get the proper setup in my '71. I look forward to your documentation of the build on Moparts. I was going to do a similar thread over on this site. As I stated earlier, I ordered a pan from Rob @ Weldtech. It's bit price-ier then the truck pan setup, but is custom and guaranteed to fit the altektion with either rack. It comes with pan and pickup for $395. Re'cd all ordered parts from Keisler yesterday, but have not opened the boxes yet. I will wait 'til I return from a week long vacation starting tomorrow. Hope to have the engine/headers by the time I get back. Next, is waiting for the add'l brake upgrades from Bill. I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas morning.

Thanks for a great thread. I've learned alot here and on the other 3G hemi thread. Now I'm not building an A-body but a 1935 Dodge coupe, Mopar drriveline all the way. 5.7 truck motor, A518 OD trans, 8 3/4 3.91 rear. Street Rod Engineering IFS, triangulated four bar rear. What interests me most is the indutionsystems, conversion kits. I first decided to go with the XV-motorsports carb kit with 273 camshaft. Seems like an easy, strong and affordable kit. Beeing an EFI novice I am a bit scared to go with the injection, also the cost seemed a bit high to me. But now I've changed my mind, I do want an EFI. Why doesn't anybody use the stock 5.7 intake and modified throttle body? Just putting a lever and cable to the trottlebody. The other day I found this article http://www.thehemi.com/57L/article_camswap.phpThis was a few years ago and should be much easier today. Would this work with the MP/AEM controller/wiringharness? Going AEM, what parts would I need? I think their homepage is confusing. Going Fast what parts would I need from them? I see they a complete kit for $3924 thats incl. TB I think I'd better give them a call. Would really appriciate comments on this, thanks! Carl from Sweden

I guess I sound confused, that's probably because I am. I saw that CudaSRT8 used the MP stuff, controller, harness and TB. When I look at MoparConnection they don't have the 5.7 or 6.1 wiring harness for the programmable EMS, only for the non-programmable. They only have the harness for the crate 392.
I guess they want to sell the complete 5.7 conversion kit for $4250??
What harness did you use CudaSRT8?

Edit: found your post below!! looking good. Hey rj, I'd be interested in seeing all that you did for your 71 Demon. I have a Demon as well (71) and have an alterK coming. Do you have full res photos anywhere on-line? What are we looking at for ground clearance there? Looks like a couple of 2" square tubes, with another 2"(ish) block under something - it's hard to make out. You have more than 4 inches of clearance? What oil pan are you using? Darren couple more.....radiator from Modern Muscle and ground clearance

http://www.bruningautodesign.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=2638Here are some better pics of moving up the K frame. Oil pan is 5" from the ground now, Two 2" square tubes and 1" block of wood. The alterK suspension was moved up 2" into the frame rails. UCA's mounts were also moved up. The front frame rails where they go under the car and a little part of the torsion bar crossmember were cut/raised and capped to gain an extra 3/4"-1". They were too low (about 4.25" to ground). Pan is from Weldtech. Very nice pan, but the pickup is a hacked together. I would go Charlie's if I did it again. They have a new pan out now that was built for the Gforce Design concepts demon. Rear suspension is a Tri4 link which the lower bar sits above the frame rails. Let me know if you want any other specific pics. My car is gonna sit as if it was almost an Airride car, but with coils overs. It should handle very well.

I was reading that the 5.7 truck pan fits with the alterK in the A body, is that incorrect? Would that not be easier and a heck of a lot cheaper than the charlie's pan? Your photos look good. Where did you pick up your 6.1? http://www.bruningautodesign.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=2638Here are some better pics of moving up the K frame. Bouchillon perf sells the rear sump pan for like $200 bucks w/ the pickup, dipstick included. Charlie's/Weldtech pan is like $400. I like the fab'd look of a custom pan is all

rjsjea,
Thanks so much for the link to your gallery of pics. First you did a really nice job moving the Alter-K up into the frame rails. I think if you are really interested in having a car that sits extremely low this is the best way to go. Nice Work.
Further, these very detailed pics of the Alter-K helped to reinforce my already positive image of the piece. Your pics clearly showed the beefiness of Bill's Shock tower. In all the other pics that I've seen it was unclear how thick the steel was in a few places, this lack of detail made me think that the shock towers might flex or deflect under certain conditions. Your pictures make it clear that this WILL NOT be a problem. I've posted a number of questions, and seen a number of discussions about the durability of Bill's product. I've yet to read any truly negative comment, that being said, sometimes seeing IS believing.
I remember Bill in a long posting once described why his product cost what it did, he explained in great detail how he frequently used beefier parts than his competitors. For example, he described how instead of using bolts for the lower control arms that might cost a few dollars he machined a heavier piece designed to handle the load. This description helped convince me that the Alter K was a quality piece, but the pics you posted rammed it home.
Thanks Again

Joe Dokes,
The guy doing most of the fabrication work on the car worked for a super-hi end street rod builder for the past 10 years and had very good things to say about the Alterk.
Well worth the money.

Hi, I'm new here to the site but have been reading along and love what I see so far. I've been thinking of doing a 5.7 hemi swap in my 72' duster using a motor from an 06' truck sittin in a local wrecking yard, tti mounts, stock jeep manifolds, and an 833 4speed, I would like to run the stock EFI setup with the DBW and have read Street & Performance can reflash the stock computer, but I am curious if anyone has heard of any problems or had any thoughts on going this route with tuning and drivability.

Just got started over here at Mopar Supercenter, and had no idea the extent that Jeff and the guys have gone with the 6.1 and even the 392s that Chrysler has rolled out. We carry just about everything needed to do the swaps. Hes got the knowledge and what he doesnt know he'll figure it out for you. The two shop projects right now are a 6.1 conversion in a JK Wrangler and a 392 in a Shortbed Ram. Jeffs going to be joining the site shortly, been playing catch up here at the store, been a little short handed. Check the site out at www.moparsupercenter.com

This thread should be a sticky...
Street and Performance (S&P) has come out with a couple different header options for the 6.1/5.7 Abody swap. More of a shorty header compared to TTI's. The TTI's didnt fit at all in my application, but these fit perfect and absolutely no ground clearance compromises.

They had a couple different options and can build what you need. They do a center (pictured) and a rear dump. The rear on my car would have hit the steering shaft probably. They were like $575 shipped, uncoated.
They have motor mounts also, but I didnt inquire about them since Bill does them for the AlterK.

Did you talk to Mark?? He's the only one there who knows anything about 6.1/5.7 hemi's. Page 151 of their catalog shows the center dump. They are custom built in that they build per order.....took about 10 days or so. Bruning Auto design is the name they were purchased under if that helps.

? Well it's an Abody, it's a 6.1. Ask about the headers they built for Bruning Auto Design that may help
