I am getting a good understanding of the quench thing. Now I have a question. I am running 906 heads, open chamber. Does any know of a good piston to run with these heads, around 10-1 compression, to take advantage of the quench area? I am currently running TRW six-pack replacements and want to go with something a bit lighter. Thanks, Matt

KB has pistons specially designed to take advantage of the open quench area of a 906 head or simular. The make pistons with raised flats of different heights so as to acheive the correct quench. They offer them for 440's and small blocks. The 383 pistons are flat tops or domed. My newest Mancini flyer offers new 383 pistons for 383's but still no raised quench area. Hope this helps.

How good are the KB pistons? I heard some bed things about them years ago, but nothing lately. By the way Moparteacher, I teach high school. Am I to assume you are a teacher as well? Matt

I taught high school for three years at Las Vegas High and currentty teach at Community College of Southern Nevada. I use "Moparteacher" as a signature mainly because I use Mopar technology and cars in my lesson plans quite a bit. All the instructors have a specialty field or subject. My specialty leans towards Mopar engines.
