Productive Day of Bodywork! More Pics!!
« on: January 20, 2008, 05:49:55 PM »

Had a productive day in the garage doing bodywork, I had the passenger quarter cut off and had found cancer in the inner rocker area behind the door, today I cutout and patched up all the rot, sanded the surface rust on everything, hit it all with POR-15 now it's ready for the quarter...

Ryan

I also patched up the front end of the inner rocker but the camera battery died on me, I'm going back out there after dinner to start tacking on the new quarter, I'll take more pics of that...

Nice work!  it looks like the inner fender was pretty solid - lucky thing.  I'm doing the same thing on the dart and the worse part is making the inner fender lip!

Thanks all...Yes those are mig tacks, I did it for speed mainly, I'm going to tig the rest, the welds are SOOO much easier to grind after...

Looking great so far!  Does the tig welder seem not so easy to warp the thin sheet metal?  Also what tig welder do you have?  Thanks, Matt   4 speed

Thanks! I have a Miller Syncrowave 200, great machine, I wouldnt say it's any less prone to warping, heat's stil heat but the welds are stronger yet softer so they're easier to hammer & dolly and easier to grind flat...As for easy of use, a mig is easier depending on your skill level, I would NOT reccomend a tig for bodywork unless your proficient with one...

Congrats all the hard work it will be paying off soon. Plus you did it all yourself. Pride is very under rated in today's world. I had to tear down my 66 Charger 3 times to get it were it is today. It has taken me 10 years and I still have some minor things to do. I know ever bolt and nut on the car and I'm very proud of it as you should be of yours. Thanks for the progress photos and nice job!
