Ok i got a question i have a newly acquired 2000 Dodge Ram 4X4 with a 360. now this truck is a california emisson truck.
the engine is otu getting rebuilt(long story) but i was thinking a nice RV cam and also throwing some headers on the truck BUT! these are my concerns.
Long tube or shorty headers? I know the long tube headers are not street legal for the trucks but i'm semi worried about that.
What will a simple cam and headers do to the stupid cali computer?
I know i can take out the computer and chaneg it to a non cali emisson but a few other parts would have to be swapped as well.
Not sure the truck has 35" tires the engine does not struggle pushing the tires as there are 4.56 gears in it as well. i knwo the ins and outs of the truck because it was my dad's until recently.

you dont have to go to the 'non-cali' chip. get a reprogrammer. more than a few are cali-legal and I would highly recommend that to be one of the first mods as I would imagine the stock computer isnt equipped to keep up with header/cam changes. you'll see quite a bit of improvement just from the reprogrammer.
I think I'd go shorty headers to keep the midrange pull going. you should be able to get a decent cali-legal cam as well.
as bad as california emissions restrictions are, the industry has addressed that very nicely and given us in the most restrictive state in the union more than a few options.
