I have a 73 Duster with a /6. I'm guessing the rearend is an 8 1/4? Will this rearend fit in a 65 Dart. I'm guessing the spring perches will need to be relocated. Will the 8 1/4 hold up if I was to install a 408?
Thanks in advance for the help. Gene

Could be either a 7 1/4 or 8 1/4. The 7 1/4 wont last long, the 8 1/4 will work if it is a sure grip and not used with slicks or sticky tires. I dont know if early A's had different spring spacing.

If you upgrade the axles and add an Auburn diff, it will handle 500hp easy. Stock axles tend to snap over 350hp and the differentials will eat spider gears, I have broken both.

isnt the duster rear a little wider than what you would want for a dart?

Duster and Dart are same A bodys. See the chart in the tech section for dimensions.

Ok .... just thought I had read somewhere that a duster rear and a dart were a different width . maybe just my imagination.
