I have a '67 dart which was made to look like a '69 before I bought it. The original '67 tailights were still on the car, but are in uncervicable condition. Does anybody know how hard it would be to fit '68 tailights to the car? It looks to me like it would only take some trimming, but I want to know for sure. I ask because i have a mint set of '68 lenses from a parts car. Also how hard would it be to move the headlights so I can fit a '68 grille. The car has a '69 grille now, but I prefer the '68, and have a mint one from the parts car as well. I know most folks on here hate making a car look like another model year, but since someone else did this, I'd like to make it look like just ONE year. Also I like '68's a little better.
Thanks Jon
P.S. I was happy with a /6 before I found this site. Now my big block is days away from the big install!

I don't suppose your parts donor car was a floor shifted model? If it was, I'd like dibs on a piece (or 20) on the floor shift stuff. As for your conversion, didn't the 67 have the back up lights in the bumper? 68 & 69 were in the tail lights, but if it was already converted to a 69 that may have already been done. I, personnally have never played mix and match with them but I would think it would be pretty straight forward.
Let me know...

sorry pure gts, no floor shift parts left, but a friend of mine is scrapping one out that may be. I'll ask him tomorrow. If it is, I'll let you know. As for the b/u lights, they are still in the bumper. I plan on installing 'glass bumpers to move the lights. The '68 lights appear as though they wil fit the body but the housing behind the lens is deeper.

The brackets that the lights attach to are shallower on the 67. You can remove them and use the 68 ones to mount the 68 lights.

The only thing that you need to do is modify the mounting brackets behind the lights. As stated, the 67 is shallow, so you'd have to cut and extend the brackets deeper to fit the 68 lights. That's the only thing that needs to be modified to make 'em fit.
The grill will bolt right in without modification.

The grille did bolt in just fine, however the headlights are not centered in the bezel. They seem to be about 1/2" toward the center of the car and 1/2" up in noopenings. mabe different core supports?
Thanks Jon

Headlights mount to the fenders. 69 fenders are different and that may be what you have.

as long as the fenders are the same stamping you might be able to swap the headlight buckets to a set from a 68.worked in my 66 satellite, drilled out the spot welds and swapped in a set of buckets from a 67.
