i found a way to give your old leather or other seats a cheap clean up. The answer is scotch bright pads, they work wonder, try it sometime.Makes them look almost new

 They use scotchbrite pads to scuff seats before dying them. You need to use a leather cleaner and a conditioner.

What you did was clean up the dirt, but you also tore up the surface, it will collect dirt and wear faster now, the leather is damaged now. Trust me, I had to sit through a 1 hour training on leather care for aircraft seat about 4 months ago.
