Topic: Kick Down Linkage ??? (Read 507 times)

I have been trying to put some kick down linkage together without any luck. I have some linkage from a couple different C Bodies. Two styles, the one piece and the multiple piece units and I have a B Body. I am about to give up on it and get a cable unit from Lokar or bouchillon performance. I have heard that the Lokar unit is Very Difficult to adjust. The Bouchillion unit is Twice the Price, But I have heard it is easy to set up. Any Thoughts  |

Ive not used a cable, but cant see it being that difficult to adjust.
Mayb someone with a Lokar will chime in.

69 Swinger,3.54 Dana, 400/499, Stealth heads, Crower 262/266d, .686/.696L roller,11 to 1, 950 Bigs, E85 carb.
Best so far, 10.82 @ 124mph through the mufflers.

Got one on my small block Dart(Lokar) works great. Just some minor adjustments to get shift points correct and you're done.

I used a lokar knockoff that was 35 bucks on egag. The bracket mounts to the rear of the lever on one of the tail shaft housing bolts. I got it hooked up loose then held the throttle wide open while pulling all the slack out with the lever fully aft and tightened the cable clamp. I loosened it up a hair after driving it around a while so it shifted a little later.

I used the lokar 1 too, it wnet on pretty easy. and works ggod

I`ve install 2 lokar one so far, I think the hardest part of installing it was to get it hook up on the tranny with headers and all , real easy to adjust , it is trial an error for geting shift point right in high gear.Nothing to it

don't know if I still have the vendor's name. I'll check.
It works great. Just as good as my real Lokar throttle cable, and was alot less. The cables look the same unless you get really close to them ,then the brading is slightly different.

I have The Lokar. Adjustments are easy but I still can't get the bastard to kick down . Don't know the real history of the trans except it has a shift kit in it. The farther I adjust it back the higher the shift points become ,,,go too far & she won't shift up at all . I read somewhere you need to put a return spring with moderate tension on the kickdown arm . Tried that ( a Houdini act for a crippled old man like me ) but it didn't do the trick ! Makes me wonder if the pig has the kick down lever in it at all . I hope you get the Lokar and somebody can set us both straight !!!!  ---Mopar Tom |

Maybe something to do with the length of the shift lever Jack I heard that you need to drill another hole in the tranny leaver to get the right travel. It was on a moparts post. I need to try it as soon as I get my car running. |

I used the 3-piece linkage from a 1975 Dodge Ram pick-up with a 440...It works great on my 67 dart 440...Just make sure you get all the pieces, including the lever from the transmission, and the bracket that bolts to the intake manifold. I tried alot of other combos, but that was the only one that worked.
