Steering linkage advice needed
« on: February 03, 2008, 02:23:01 PM »

Will '73 & up a-body idler & pitman arms w/ matching drag link work in an older 68-72 style k-frame? I'm having to start from scratch so I could go either way. The newer parts seem to be stronger & less expensive.

I have the opposite question. Will the steering out of a 72 K frame fit in a 73? The 72 has all new bushings / tie rod ends etc. I want to use the factory 73 V8 K frame for the simplicity of the mounts.

A-bodies since 1978, this one since 1983

Yes, both ways will work AS LONG AS the steering gear shaft matches the pitman arm (there were two sizes and the large sector to early center link pitman arm is either very hard to get or impossible to get).

Thanks, Sounds like I'm good if I move everything between the two K-frames.
