steering question
« on: February 03, 2008, 05:45:42 PM »

I would like to put manual steering on my '74 swinger. I have the entire front suspension from a retired drag car that was a '69, that is manual, along with the steering column. My question is this, if I change idler arm, pitman arm, and center link {dropped center}, along with going to the C body inner and outer tie rods that I was planning on doing anyway, will this all come together and be pretty much a bolt in or is there going to be some caveman engineering that I will encounter? Sorry so long winded but want to make my intentions clear. motorinstall

Steering column is different. 70 and up the ignition key is in the column, 69 and down in the dash. I think the mounting under the dash can be swithed over though. Eric  4 speed

Yes this is true, but you can swap just the center shaft in the columns and keep the later column in the car.
