Im in the process of installing a S&W 8-point kit in my 69 Dart. The rear braces seem to short. This is my first install so maybe there OK, they barely go past the back of my wheel tubs. Im a new member to this site, but have watched it for years. I have noticed many of your cars have these bars located much further back in the trunk. Any thoughts? Thank you.

This may not be applicable to your set up, but when "AAOUTLAW" built the rollbar for my '74 Dart Sport he ran the rear tubes to plates welded close to the middle of the rear end hump. Willie

Thanks for the info. Supporting the spring mount makes sense to me, but I think I might use what I have. The roll bar kit is probably not ment to reinforce the chassis like the larger cage kits. The 8-point should work fine for my power level. Thanks again for the help. Wayne

I've seen it several ways. My car has them through the speaker holes and then they turn down towards the middle area of the subframe above leaf spring as opposed to the end of the subframe. It was explained to me that this set up worked better with leaf spring cars. Looking at it, it seems to keep more structure in the area of the main hoop there by giving it more support, being a bit more compact. And in a roll over I would think that just having the longer bars, without the mid "X", would be easier to get damaged and have it collapse than without the "X", or the shorter system. Maybe I'm all wet, but it seems to logic out looking at it.
