Productive Day of Bodywork! Part 2!
« on: February 10, 2008, 07:10:05 PM »

Ok today was another milestone moment, I got the passenger side quarter fully welded, the old rocker cutoff and the new one tacked in place, this means the metalwork on the body is almost done!!!! drinks  Next up, grind the welds flat and spray it white primer!

Thanks guys, those are tig beads, very very small tig beads for the most part...On the sail panel and a few spots that had gaps I used silicon bronze rod, hence the gold color and the bigger bead in spots, you dont use quite as much heat so the rod doesnt make as flat of a weld..The rocker panel is tacked with mig, I usually tack that way for speed/ease if I'm working alone, tacking with TIG while holding 2 parts isnt the easiest way to do it..

as stock, where the inner rear wheel tub meets the fender lip.  If you tubbed it, is there any reinforcement on the out skin fender lip?

We didn't tub or mini tub ours, therefore we're reconstructing an inner wheel lip where the out fender lip will weld to around the arch.

Sorry I just looked through all my pics and I dont have a good closeup of that area, this is all I have, I mini-tubbed it so thats the factory inner fender, when I cut the quarter off I actually left the 3/4" wide strip of the original quarter and welded the new one right over it because I plan to trim the whole lip back for tire clearance and the extra thickness should give it a little more rigidity...

ahhh..I see.  My inner was rotted away....nothing left.   You're lucky, since it helps to locate the fender too.   Lookes great! nice job.
