1972 / 1973 Front Clip Question
« on: February 11, 2008, 05:47:13 PM »

Hey All,

I am going to look at a 73 Dart this weekend. It has many of the features I want (225, factory ac, 4 door, good body), and one I don't. The year! \/][

I've always thought the front end on a 72 Dart looked oodles cooler than the 73.

When I started looking at pics of the 72 vs. 73 models, I noticed that the body lines from the fenders to the door panel look VERY similar. So here is the question:

Could I take an entire front clip off of a 72 Dart and put it on my 73 Dart? Anyone ever done this? Did it match up ok?

Thanks,

Chris E.

yes it will work but WTF is wrong with a 73? At least everyone doesn't have one......and it's not pink.... puke lol lol lol lol.

Maybe you should try finishing a project before you get another?

Actually I don't know why I should feel insulted by someone with a Cordoba, that my friend will NEVER look good. By all means do what you have to do to make it look good in your opinion puke puke

No offense was meant to anyone who likes the 73 and up. I just thing the front ends look like...........well West said it best........turds!  !nanr

I'm not looking for another project, I am looking at a driver. Lord knows my basement is full of "future" projects that have nothing whatsoever to do with cars Dunno Besides I would sumbit that there is no such thing as a "finished" car!

Hey maybe I could paint the cordoba pink!

Bottom line, yes the parts will interchange, everyone has they're own tastes, I personally think the 72 Demon/Dart front end looks better than the 70-71 or 73 & up...On the Dusters I like the 73 & up better than the earlier style, has a bulldog-ish tough kind of look...

In my defence, when I was looking for a car a was really looking for a 67-72 but my 73 came along and it's in the best shape I've ever seen for a car of that age, plus it's not puke-snot green or any other disco era color. It's B5 with a white roof and a factory sunroof....classic muscle stuff if you ask me. Since I've owned it many people have given me the "i'd rather have" speech, or the "you should change this" speech, but as far as I am concerned the 73 only body style has really grown on me. I've now realized that the more people that hate my car, the more people don't expect a 500hp 496 B engine and the less heat I draw from the fuzz. The ultimate sleeper IMHO, only a 4door 73 would be better.

I didn't mean to be too defensive, but I could really give a shit who doesn't like my car.

BTW, my fave mopars are the 62 Maxies....ugly as sin but fast as hell. who else but Ma did that in put  430HP  13-1 comp engine in a sedan your grampa might drive in 1962?    well why not 73 as well

73 I think your car is cool too. Your engine installation is clean and the car is in great shape. I really meant no disrespect.

I ended up with my 68 Valiant by mistake. It was just too clean a car for too good a price and I couldn't pass it up. At first I thought about selling it to get the Val to get the 67-69 Dart I always wanted. But then the Val grew on me. Now I've decided that is my car.

If I get the 73 as a driver, I'll prolly never get around to putting a front end on it. But it is good to know I can if one comes down the pike.

Cordobas are awsome and the 73 front ends should have never been made. There is nothing wrong with pink cars either.

I like the front end on my 74 dart, it looks good after i blacked out the grille. I agree the 73 duster looks better than the earlier models. Just my 2cents!
