I know that the torsion bars are right and left. I pulled a pair of factory v8 bars out of a car and did not mark them. Is there some marking on the bars I should be looking for? Or should I not worry about it?
Thanks, Steve

Yes, you DO need to worry about it! On the end of the rear hex, they will be stamped with numbers. Mine had an R on the right one if I remember right. If not, post the numbers that are stamped on the bars.

They also had stripes painted on them (if they're stock) to denote which side they go on, one had one stripe and the other had two. I can't remember which stripes identify which side, though.....so I guess that didn't help much.

Also, part numbers ending in odd numbers are usually drivers side and even ones are passenger side.

Just to add to this discussion....
There is a line stamped on each end of the bars. How should the bars be installed in relation to these lines.....or does it not matter?
Kim, I always thought the paint marks went towards the front. Glad I read this thread, thanks.

The line doesn't make any difference as far as how it is aligned in the socket during installation. The bars have a pre-engineered amount of twist in them from front to rear. This twist will be the same no matter how you orient the lines on the ends of the bars. I just make sure that I have the appropriate bar on the correct side and front of the bar to the front of the car!

Thank You 75Dart440- Again, the paint splotches from the factory go towards the BACK of the car, correct?
TWO paint splotches on the drivers side, ONE on the pass side.

You got it! The rear of the bars will have the the last 3 digits of the part number stamped on them as well.

/6 bars are commonly used for racing A-bodies with big blocks in them. The bars allow the front of the car to react faster upon launching the car. I personally wouldn't run them on the street as they are oil pan killers and they could break on you with the constant beating they will take.
