Torque specs for the 90 degree oil filter adapter? Update with Specs!
« on: February 12, 2008, 02:43:55 PM »

Anyone know what the torque specs are for the bolt that puts this thing on a small block? Thanks!

- Don

***UPDATE***

No more than 50 ft/lbs. At least on the papers I have here in front of me. That's what I did, and this should all work right? During breaking, without this adapter, the cold pressure was 80 psi. It's hard for me to imagine this thing flowing that well, with that wierd bolt with 4 holes in it. The battery, unfortunately, is dead, so I don't know yet if it works. For all of you guys out there running one of these on a smallblock, does it work well?

I don't know what you're running as far as like a race motor or anything but, my 340 has one of those from the factory and I've nevere had a problem. Well, the only problem I had was because I left out the inner gasket on the adapter and the oil was bypassing the filter and not filtering the oil. Eventually it let something big enough go thru the oil and it took out a rod bearing. Totally MY fault!

Frustrated that bolt with them holes in it will break.Don't put it on tight, just sem-tight so it don't leak. For just that bolt is way way to much$$$ \/][ many, many years ago I had to weld that bolt to go to work becauce it took like 10 days to get one, back in 73',74'man Iam getting old.So don't break it,but if you break it now you can problily get one next week. All to put header on a 318and over tight'n that dam bolt twice, back to back.Dam, I almost forgot that dam thing now I got to go beat my old  madwife 's butts again for old times Whew put 10#on it to start lol lol lol put it as tight as a oil plug.
