I've got one but I haven't installed it yet. Nice looking parts. I bought the Race Pro muffler system.

Hey there flyboy01 What part number(s) system did you order? I looked on the Summit site and there are lots of possibilities. Could you help me narrow it down? Thanks

They're adjustable (and trimable) in such a way that they'll work with any full length header. I'm using Schumachers so some down pipes will have to be fabbed.

I installed a Pypes system on the Valiant. I used PYE - SMA10S. It fits great. The tailpipes fit well and the ground clearance is excellent at ths X pipe. I had to tweak the X a little at the rear to keep the mufflers away from the driveshaft. The Pypes mufflers inlets and outlet are offset on opposite sides, but I decided to use Flowmaster mufflers instead. The Pypes mufflers and Flowmasters with offset inlets/outlets have almost identical case lengths and widths, so the mufflers can be switched very easily. I'm using schumacher headers so I just bought 4 90 deg stainless bends and made front pipes.

Would I have enough clearance with the offset rear spring kit to fit the tailpipes in?

what grade stainless are they? im to lazy to search right now. i thought they were made from 409 which if i remember right it is the grade they make oem stainless exhausts from which will oxidise and take on a rusty appearance. i could be wrong though.

I believe you're right. The muffs I have, still in their box, appeared oxidized. Nothing polished either.

Yes they are 409 stainless, which is OK for me. I decided to change which system I am getting, I decided to get the street pro system since they dropped the price, I like to sound o this system the best and the flow does not bother me because I am going to add a set of cutouts when I'm at the strip, and the difference in price pays for the cutouts.

What was the shipping charge on the exhaust system. I noticed on their site the street pro system has an additional shipping charge. Thanks

I don't think a 3" system is available yet for a-bodies. And the extra shipping charges (any of their systems) is because it comes in one big, oversized box.

Agreed, I'd like to see your downpipes. Here's some pics of the downpipes, don't pay any attention to the bad welds though , it was a rush to get them made to break the motor in. I have 2 more 90 degree bends and am going to redo the front pipes. Oh yeah, and the rubber fuel line is temporary too for break in! ] ] Would I have enough clearance with the offset rear spring kit to fit the tailpipes in?
I used the offset hangers and the the tailpipes still fit well.

Cool, thanks for the pics. Looks like they come off the header and bend out wider. Do you not have them going through the two pockets in the tranny cross member near the middle? Were the 4 90's all you needed to join to the Pypes system?

I ordered 4 90's but only needed 2. I have 2 more I'm going to use and redo the downpipes. My pipes go through the outside of the indentation, but I could have moved the X-pipe forward more to center them in the pockets more, but it worked out better for me this way to join up to the downpipes. The drivers side does have to bend out away from the trans, th epass side can stay fairly straight, at least on mine. There is plenty of ground clearance, especially compared to a full header with collector. You can see it is not much lower than the tranny pan, and that is the lowest point of the exhaust system.

Here's some pics of my downpipes, they don't look as good as those above I made them using 3" turndowns I bought at autozone. The 2.5" pipes from the headers feed into the turndowns. I have these feeding into an X pipe system, they go under the cutouts but are still down a couple inches from them. The system itself is a 3" summit "universal X pipe" kit, about $90, and I didn't have to change it much to install it. These last pics are when I had to modify the pipes when I switched from 383 to 440.
