I had it fixed and re-anodized. I'm thinking the center section was Argent silver with black inside the letters. Does anyone have any idea how this would from the factory?

There is red in the top and bottom grove. The letters are black. Mine has not been restored. I would like to know how much and where did you get it done.

Yes, argent silver with quite a heavy texture in the centre, deep red, almost maroon top and bottom to blend into the taillights, and the Barracuda lettering has flat black inside the raised sections. I can post a pic of mine if you like. It is original except for me repainting the red sections which had worn off. I can also look up the paint colour I found which matched the lenses the best.

I had mine done at McNichol's plating and polishing in Redford, MI. The cost would probably be about $300. I had some trim done as well so it's hard for me to give an exact quote. If you guys could post a few pics, that would be great.

Thanks for the pic Bakaruda. Do you know if the letters are sprayed in argent or are they shiny? I think they were masked off prior to spraying.

The raised part of the letters stays shiny alum. , while the indented area of the letter goes black. The argent is the coarse, sparkly stuff you see on some of the Mopar grilles (like '70 cuda I think).
Also, from what I can remember, for the Formula S cars, they substituted a somewhat "organisol" black instead of argent silver and then added the "S" emblem. That's the look I've always liked...

With the aluminum, should I use a primer first or just scuff the aluminum and spray it.

I'd scuff it with a gray, 3M scuff pad and shoot it with an etch prime. Should be ready for whatever finish you select from there...
