If I follow the directions on the tech page can I still have my back seat, side panels, etc in my 67 fast back Barracuda?
Thanks,
Slim

I mini tube mine and the back seat still fits. You will just have to move the mounting rackets for the upper part of the seat back in the proper location.

I'm real curious about this too.    When I "eyeball" my '69 fastback for mini-tubs, it doesn't look like the side panels will fit back in there right.   Will not be running a back seat, but I'd prefer to not mess with the side panels...

I "only" have a dart but when I mini tubbed it I had to trim the metal frame of the seats to fit the new wheel wells.  Not a big deal but the seat fits fine now.  I'm not too sure about your guy's interior panels but i think with enough Time,Skill,Money anything can be made to work.  Don't forget that lacking any of the three can  be comensated by any other.  No big deal.

Do the split and widen method. I did the aftermarket tubs. Wrong choice.

Graet pictures 67 barracuda. Thank you very much. I think that I'm going to go ahead and give it a try. I'll do the best I can and try to document putting the interior back together.

I have been thinking of doing that to my Cuda too but I am concerned about the side panels. Will they fit back in the right place and look right.I am fine with doing the cutting and welding part but I would like it to look right when I am done. Those are some very good pictures but they don't show the side panels back in place. It seems like alot of work just to gain about two inches or less.Just my two cents. Uh, Big Slim,
I'm concerned about the fit of the back panels also, so I'll be watching this also.   In the meantime, is your cuda a 69?   I can't quite tell from that small picture.   Can we see some more, bigger pictures?    Also, please share some details.... we gotta know more about it!

carpet pulled down, not as nice. I plan on cutting  out the hammered down area and replace it with a flat sheet. I didn't do if first because I wanted to make it as small as possible so I tested fitted as i went. I was along process with a 3lb hammer.
Good lock with you project and keep us up to date on your progress.

thank you 67 Barracuda thanks a lot for the pictures, you have been a big help.

Cuda 8RT8 I actually have 2 F/B Barracuda's A 67 And A 69. I have owned the 67 for 25+ years. I had it together twice when I was younger. I got into tractor pulling in the late 80's  and put the car in the top of the barn and forgot about it. Every so often I would walk by it and think I need to put it together or sell it. I wasn't doing it any favors by letting it sit. Long story ,because of fuel prices and politics we got out of tractor pulling last year. Sold most everything, pulled the car down to the shop and started to " put it back together ". Well, stuff that I had done 25 years ago wasn't quite as neet as I remembered, so in order to " put it back together " we had to tear it apart. So now its on a rotisserie.

I found the 69 (on e-bey ) while I was looking for parts. Made a deal with my wife - - - Get rid of the motorcycle, get the 69!! Not much to think about there. The e car came from Barr Mass, the guy was straight up and I think I got a good deal.

67 barracuda,
So, once a fastback cuda is mini-tubbed, you have to take a cut of metal out of the side panels to get them back in then, right?   Also, I would think then that the flat floor panel would have to be trimmed out to.    Just the "can of worms" situation I would prefer to avoid.  I'm going to have to give that more thought then.   Many thanks for the pics and your input...

BigSlim,
Sweet cars.  I like the colors on both.   So, it appears you're making the '67 a drag car?  Or at least, beefed up a bit.   What engine/trans combo you gonna run?

I have a soft spot for '69s.   What'd you have to give for your 69.   Looks really sweet and ready to DRIVE, unlike my own   lol   Are you going to leave the 69 as is or are you going to make some changes?

Thanks a lot for the pics.   I needed a "fix"   lol

CudaSRT8,

The 67 is getting a 440 stroked to 505 inches, pump gas motor. 727, reverse manual shift valve body, bolt in sprague (SP?), 4500 stall convertor.
My boy is a big fan of Hemi Orange so there is a color change in the ole Cudas future as well.

I started the mini tub operation tonight and after taking the right side panel out I think this is going to be do-able. I can post pictures if you wwould like, let me know.

BigSlim, definately keep us posted on pics as you go.   Does it look like you'll have to cut the inner trim panels and the false floor panel?

How much were you able to score the '69 for?

OK Fellers, let the show begin!! Popcorn

I wanted to see what I was dealing with. 67 Barracuda mentioned carpet, but my car still has sheet metal side curtains. The pic show rear mounting prior to disassembly.

Next I wanted to take a peek on the inside to see what kind of room I have. The top looks good , but the bottom is going to have to be moved.

Next I'm going to remove the trunk hinge support and the front side curtain support from the wheel well. I'll keep you posted!

BigSlim,
Thanks for those pics.   They really show how close the side panel is to the wheel well.  Also, we need to consider the "false floor" mods that would be necessary to fit in between the panels after their mods.   I'm at a loss for any ideas on how I could modify the side panels in a way that will look stock or factory.   I don't want mine to obviously look modified.

Geez, if a 275 or 285 will fit in the wheel well, I may just settle for that...

I have to agree.  Not much room to work with if you want to retain the stock panels and rear seat.  I am using 275/60-15's with a stock wheelwell.  If you use the offset spring hangers you can gain almost another inch of clearance.  The springs are the limiting factor on the inside.  With the offset hangers you can use the whole wheelwell.

Undecided Well after listening to the feedback and looking at the pictures I have come to the following opinions. 1) The mini tubs, with slight variations are real do-able. The instructions ithe tech section are awsome. 2) The false floor can be trimed to fit once the tubs have been moved. The fold up trunk dividershould work as well.3) I'm pretty sure that I will be able to remount the rear seat. I'm not sure that it will still fold down as it should. No big deal either way. 4) THe side curtains are going to be the trick! At this piont I'm going to do the tub job as others have. When I get to the side curtain reinstall I'll wing it. If I have to get some profesional help to make them look good, not necessarily stock, then so be it. Right side gets cut tonight. bbd sign AWSOME SIGHT--- GREAT HELP!!

I agree with you opinion and conclusion.   Certainly, the tubs are do-able and no harder to do than a Dart, Duster, etc.   It's the reprocussions created because of our side panels and flooring, which is different than the other cars (they don't have this problem).

I did just think of one solution.   I'm thinking we could just treat the panels virtually as if they are also tubs.  If we put in a 2-3 inch strip on the mini-tubs, we could just split the panels and add a 2-3 inch strip on those too.   Get what I mean?   Now, these have to be finished off real nice in some manner since they are the final trim panels.   Regular body work would need to be performed (filler, putty, etc.) and then they could be vinyl covered, leather covered, or possibly carpet covered.  Mine have what appears to be a very thin vinyl covering on them from the factory.   Has a grain look to it.

Anyway, my panels are stored up and away in the attic, so I haven't looked at them in quite a while.   But, I'm thinking they come out about an inch or so and then go down to the floor.   If I were to split it up at the top just like splitting the tub, a filler strip could be welded in and then finished off.   Whatcha think?

I do have to say though, that although all this is certainly do-able, it's a lot of extra time/work that I'm not sure I want to do.  It will just prolong the time frame for getting my car on the road...
