That is said news only 63 I hated his show but I respected him. For going outside the box building his dream cars. He had a big heart. I liked the black Hemi car that he did for that kid for charity. I wonder what he died from? RIP

I guess they won't need flowers for the funeral, they can just bury him in one of his wild hawaiian shirts.

Wikipedia says he died of Liver Failure....
"Until his death, Coddington had a 50,000 square feet (5,000 mē) garage located in La Habra, California and had 70 employees. He died on February 27, 2008 from liver failure."

I did not mind him or the show. I think MOST people need to be yelled at or fired if they suck and are lazy. From people I have talked to that meet him or knew him he seemed to be a genuine good guy. I just picked up a hot rod magazine and they were talking about Evil Kineavel dying and all the guys that started the whole Hot Rod industry are dying off. Now this.......I dont think he was looking too healthy last I seen him on TV. I,m sure its going to come out in the wash that he had some disease. RIP Boyd Your in Hot Rod Heaven now, say hello to Mr Parks, Mr Sox and Mr Landy for us.........

Boyd was one of a kind, thats for sure. He will be missed, but my question is, when did you ever see him work on a car? What was the last car he actually put his hands on and worked on something? He is a Legend in the automotive world, I too am a body man/painter, 20 plus years, not at his level but thats only due to the mega cash he had to climb that ladder faster than I. ....it's better to burnout than to fade away.... R.I.P. Hot Rod.........

I hated his show and some of the people working for him,and his attitude to people, and the way he treated his workers, that the car is more important than your lives and your family.Did he build great cars, for sure, but at what expense, bushing people to no end and stupid dead lines, working just about 24/7,well I guess we have the last laugh, mrmopartech

That's a tad harsh, don't ya think? Sure he looked like a dickhead on TV. But it is TV ya know. Everything I have read from people who have known him have nothing but good things to say about the man. So, personally I trust what they say over what is portrayed by the TV camera.

I never wished him dead, but his show gave the hot rod world a bad name. I agree that he built a few nice cars, but most of the time he was a dickhead to his employees, and I hated the show and him for that. He lost some of the most talented people because he worked them 7 days a week and never gave a shit if they needed time off. I have worked for companies like that before, and I ended up quitting those jobs. I now work for a company that does not care if you take time off and personal days, they encourage people to take care of their personal live first. He created an atmosphere of animosity and his little minion Wayne fostered it. You can donate all the money in the world to charities, but if you can't treat real people with respent, then you are a turd, which he was.
Again, I am sorry he died, he did not deserve that, but I don't have to like him because of it.

RIP It's sad if TV thing was just overdramatized for the ratings because that is the way he will be remembered by the vast majority of people.
