Boyd was one of a kind, thats for sure. He will be missed, but my question is, when did you ever see him work on a car? What was the last car he actually put his hands on and worked on something? He is a Legend in the automotive world, I too am a body man/painter, 20 plus years, not at his level but thats only due to the mega cash he had to climb that ladder faster than I.

I hated his show and some of the people working for him,and his attitude to people, and the way he treated his workers, that the car is more important than your lives and your family.Did he build great cars, for sure, but at what expense, bushing people to no end and stupid dead lines, working just about 24/7,well I guess we have the last laugh, mrmopartech

That's a tad harsh, don't ya think?  Sure he looked like a dickhead on TV.  But it is TV ya know.  Everything I have read from people who have known him have nothing but good things to say about the man.  So, personally I trust what they say over what is portrayed by the TV camera.

I never wished him dead, but his show gave the hot rod world a bad name. I agree that he built a few nice cars, but most of the time he was a dickhead to his employees, and I hated the show and him for that. He lost some of the most talented people because he worked them 7 days a week and never gave a shit if they needed time off. I have worked for companies like that before, and I ended up quitting those jobs. I now work for a company that does not care if you take time off and personal days, they encourage people to take care of their  personal live first. He created an atmosphere of animosity and his little minion Wayne fostered it. You can donate all the money in the world to charities, but if you can't treat real people with respent, then you are a turd, which he was.

Again, I am sorry he died, he did not deserve that, but I don't have to like him because of it.

RIP  It's sad if TV thing was just overdramatized for the ratings because that is the way he will be remembered by the vast majority of people.

I never wish anything bad on anyone but my last boss (long story).  Anyway - there are several people with the last name Coddington that are feeling like shit right now and for that I'm very sorry.  As a manager he sucked.  I would never want to work for the guy unless the money was just stupid and then it would be temporary.  He hired clowns and held them to top-shelf standards.  What do you expect?

Thats what I mean by him yelling at guys that sucked and were lazy!  Its obvious that only a couple dudes had that place together and the majority of the guys were just band aid fix's. Might have something to do with him going bankrupt a few years back.....either way, we may not have all liked him for one reason or another but I do agree that from what I have heard and people I have talked to, he wasnt the guy you seen on TV. How many of you guy's remember Hulk Hogan when he was a "bad guy"? It was just a ratings gimick as I am sure him getting all assed out on TV was. The man made money hand over fist and spent alot of time helping other people out. RIP

I agree with what was said many times. Maybe he was a standup guy in real life, but I live on the opposite coast, so the only knowledge I have of him was what I saw on TV. Not a good impression. He did build some cool stuff and I did see him don a paint gun in one episode.

RIP Boyd. Condolences to the family.

I Really Don't Think If It Was Just About Cars That He Would Have Been On TV Long. The Way They Betrayed Everyone On His Show Is Wrong. It Was All For Show. Do You Really Think The Father And Sons Acked Like That On Orange County Choppers. No Of Coarse Not But For A Lot Viewers Which Are Not Car Or Bike Gurus That Watch There Show For There Intertaning Shows.RIP. I Am Not A Bike Guy And I Still Watch There Show. Somtimes Its So Funny .

the shop i work at actually has this kind of crap happing at it all the time. my bosses dad comes in and yells at him then the crap runs down hill from there. my bosses dad is also my boss, so they  fight about what im supposed to be doing and then they fight about the other employee not working on the right (dads) car. so this might not really be an act.

I had the opportunity to meet Boyd a couple times at the local Good Guys show.  maybe it was an off day(s), but he wasnt exactly what I could call a people person.

he sure as 773H built nice cars though.

RIP Boyd

Rest In Peace Boyd.   I have nothing but total respect for you.   You provided the hot rod world with great and new innovations, beautiful cars and numerous jobs for plenty of people.

And now maybe that dickhead Wayne will be out on his ass without a job, where he belongs...

RIP Boyd - My condolences  to his family friends.

Liver failure eh? - I wonder how many hours he spent in the paint booth in the early days without a mask on?

Take care of your selves, dont be boneheads, wear safety gear.
