Need picture of Bucket seat floor pan..
« on: February 27, 2008, 06:33:45 PM »

I am getting ready to install bucket seats in my 67 Dart that had a bench seat.  Is there a difference between floor pans for bucket seat and bench? Pictures if possible.

I think the only diff is in the bucket seat cars had a re-inforcement rib that was spot welded to the underside of the floor pan where the inside seat track bolts in.  Other than that, the pans should be identical.  You could just fab up some .125 steel plates to weld under the floor pan after locating the holes and drilling them.  That's what I did on mine.

My original '67 Dart floor didn't have the other "half" so to speak to mount a  bucket.

Original floors - You can see there is no second part to mount a bucket on each side, only mounts for the bench.

What I ended up doing as the floors were so bad.  I'm keeping a bench seat for the sleeper factor though.

Sorry I can't help you on a what to do, but the pic can show others what your up against.  Maybe just mock up some brackets and like what was said run plate under the car for support so it pinches the stock floor?

A-body mopars, (and B-body) had reinforcement plates tack welded to the top side of the floor pans for bucket seat mounting.  Sorry, I don't have pics.

they usually have a dimple where you drill the holes for buckets.  my car is originally a bucket seat car and i have the reinforcment plate under the car, and i checked my buddy's 67 dart factory bench car and he has the original plate too. its just on the outside holes on both cars.

I have seen the reinforcement plates ( flat square plate with a clipped corner about 3" x 3-1/2" ) on the inside floor pan on a 68 Dart. My 68 bench seat car has the brackets under the floor pan for the outside bucket seat mount too, I just had to drill a hole there.

I put buckets in my 68 before I put the plastic seat in, it's easy, and there was that second mount, but no brace, it worked fine though, maybe in the long run it would be smarter to re enforce the inside mounts though.

I think this is what you are saying.  On the floor pan it is flat all the way across except for the trans hump and on the bottom it has small backing/support plates to prevent pull throughs.

yes, you should be able to find them on the originals for the bench seat, then you'll know what we're talking about.

This is the original factory floors for a 69 Dart bucket seat car. The brace is on the inside not welded from below.Look at pictures closet to seatbelts. You can see the two braces next to floor console.

are you talking about the stock location, if you're not using a console you can mount a shifter anywhere you want really

If no one gets you info first I can get you some photos and info. I sold the car but new owner has it in storage just a couple blocks from my house. The entire floor is from the factory so I know all info would be correct. It is a 69 Dart with bucket seats and auto floor console shifter.

I just welded in some from a bucket car.You just need to weld some square rienforcements on the inner holes.I think the dimples are on the stock floorpan whree the holes need to be drilled.

Yeah, I was hoping to use to an OEM console. I (supposedly) have the OEM mounting brackets but I am leary about what I have vs. what I should have or need yet.

Does anyone have, or can get, a down view of the brackets?
