I spoke to someone today about repopping the trim and finish panel for the back of the 67 Dart GT
If it were made available at a reasonable cost would you buy it?
I have been trying for 15 years to get some good restorable pieces. I finally got some that were nice but the guy that was restoring them suggested I get them chromed to look as good as the rest of my car. The chromer ruined my pieces, now I need 4 more in very good condition. I'm going to find out if they can be done and if he says yes I'll try and get him a number that might be needed here and on another site that has many A body owners.
My finsih panel has been smoothed and painted to look like the original I'm going to check on this piece too. They are getting up to a grand for a restored original and you need a very nice one to start with. Not too many left. WE NEED THE REMANUFACTURED

as far as I know they never came out with it. Please correct me if I'm wrong Talked to the guy today and he thinks he can do the trim above and below the finish panel in billet aluminum for about $250 a set as long as he sells a min of 8 sets. Not a firm price but what he thinks it would cost. Now I have been trying to buy some off ebay, been asking on both A body sites I post on and have yet to get a picture of a trim set good enough to restore. I would more than willing to pay $250 for a set that would actually be better than the factory pieces. Anyone else want a set? Now I need to get a female side of the trim. I only have the male side. As far as the finish panel, he is saying that would cost too much to tool and the recovery cost for the tooling would make it impossible for him to do. He thinks it would take about 100 panels at $350 each to recover the tooling cost

A-bodies since 1978, this one since 1983

At some point in time Jeff might be interested for his Dart, but we have a very nice set of original pieces for his car, though. We also have a nice driver quality finish panel. For the most part, though I have been very reluctant to spend real money on trim pieces. I'd rather fill holes than spend large sums for stuff that doesn't help the car go.

well I posted on 2 sites and one one interested in it. Maybe that is why Laysons never got it produced. Tooling cost would be $2,500~$3,000 for the trim and he estimated $20,000 ~ $30,000 for the actual finish panel. Guess my car will be naked for ever

I'd pay that much for a finish panel if they would make them. That's better than the king of trim on ebay who is charging close to a grand for a restored one.
