Looking for comments on running a street / strip car w/o a heater, as I just took it out and am thinking about not putting it back in. Years ago the fog on the inner windshield during the rains in Florida drove me crazy but that shouldn't be a problem with the some of the newer cleaners w/ anti fog like a rainex. I'm thinking it wont be as much of a problem.
What are you guys running and what problems did you have if you took it out?
Is anyone selling a radio plate with heater & radio delete??
thanks

since you are in Florida leaving the heater out would not that big a deal, but you need to have a blower to the defroster ducts able to blow air on the windshield
I think I would go by Classic air (local for you) and pick up their Heat AC unit and put in since you will need ac more than heat for cruising in the summer. The unit is smaller, lighter weight and mounts in the same location. Compressor is good for up to 6,000 rpm
my 2 cents

My 69 Charger was an AC car. I pulled it out since it wasn't cool to have AC in a "real street machine". Now, at 41, I would not drive another car without heat and air.

I took mine out when I lived in Alaska - you'll live in Tampa The window fog is tolerable - wear a jacket and open a window. Keep a rag handy. Some kind of blower motor would be handy though if you could hide it. Plenty of space under there once you get all that stuff out.

me too. but i'm in jersey.. i'm sure it would come in handy in fla. at times too. and i think the defroster will still work better then any of that crap you put on the windows.

All depends on your real use for the car. I'm not going to put mine back in, but am having everything reversable so if I want to, I can.

Currently have mine by-passed due to core failure that literally dumped a gallon of coolant on my buddies feet last summer Didn't worry about it then because I had planned on parking it for the winter anyway. I am getting one delivered to the shop tommorow and installing it, because it really sucks that I insured and licensed the Dart (we had a warm spell that had melted most of the snow and made it very pleasant, then the day I insured and licensed it to drive it we got 8 inches of snow) but hate driving it because the windows frost up and you get very cold without heat. It's been from mid 30's for highs down to the low 20's at night.

I removed mine , I use a 12 volt hair blower for defosting the windshield , you can get one at a RV shop , they list it as a hair blower or a defrost unit. about $20

Flyboy, Any idea on what you are going to use? I need to do something as well and I really don't want to put the old stuff back in.

BigSlim, you might want to look at www.rainbowproductsonline.com.. they have a nice ac-heater setup..i installed one in a 1940 ford streetrod, small and fits nice under the dash. also has a nice control panel,or you may could your org. one. talk to mike ,he has sold ac. units for years, and has a lot of knowledge of them.(704)-278-0054

If you ever get hot and heavy in the car with the windows up you will need the blower to drive back home....
