Well, Ive been sneaking around here for a while and i figured it was time to throw out something nice.... Got to see the new challenger and the new camaro last night. The Chally rocked, it was production #6 ready to drive, and after seing them both Im glad im a mopar guy because after just a little snooping the Camaro was just a plastic camera car. Id be embarassed if i was wearing a Chevy shirt. It was definately hot (possibly even more intimidating than ours), but the fake plastic rims ruined it for me. Looking underneath the chevy, i found plastic exhaust tips, slapped together exhaust on a rusty, grungy, (probably) corvette chasis (independant rear). True it was the movie car for transformers, but it was in the chevy show area. I was hoping they would have something more real to show their followers. Anyway, back to the Challenger... stunning, breathtaking, awe inspiring... i dont know, theres lots of descriptive works to work with, but dam "I wish i had one" is all that fits properly. Ih and the Supebee package on the Charger was kick ass...It has the old metal superbee emblems on the front fenders, and the decals on the tail too... Maybe its not a new thing, but new to me.

I saw a couple of those new so-called Super Bees about a week ago at a Dodge dealership and the price tag definitely left me with a serious case of sticker shock. They were asking just a few dollars short of $60,000 for one of those glammed up Chargers. That’s a lot of money for a couple of decals and badges if you ask me. Personally, I don’t even believe those four door family cars should be allowed to wear the Charger nameplate, but that is another story. In comparison the Challenger STR8 has to be the best bargain out there in the Mopar SRT family with a sticker of $40,000. If you want to argue that point consider they wanted $35,000 for one of those little box SRT4 Calibers at the same dealership. I am not saying the little Caliber and the stickered up Charger Super Bees were not cool looking cars, I like the looks of both, it is just that I feel they are WAY overpriced. I guess I am lucky Chrysler did not make the current Charger in a two door version, as I had originally hoped. If they had done that I might have bought one and would not be in a position to get a Challenger next year if they do not pull the limited production thing again. I guess everything has its bright side. Sorry about the long post, I guess that $60,000 price tag just had me a little tweaked. Pat

Wow, 60 is a bit much but the sticker for this one was 38... I know the 4/2 door aspect was a little disappointment, but at least we're not stuck only having a 6 cylinder to choose from like the impala. I gotta give dodge credit for having a 6.1 liter hemi on the option list, instead of having just another boring jelly bean 4/6 cyl car like every one else is puking out and putting on the street. The Ford 500 is the only other that comes to mind and thats not even close. Mercedes makes a V12 still, but at 180,000 thats another world entirely. (CL65 has 604 horse if memory serves) I guess I used to complain about the auto industry, but in this world of fuel economy, catering to upcoming ricers, and general lack of imagination Ill take dodges offerings happily because its only a matter or time before they fall because of Americas love of crappy imports and lack of american pride and we will be completely stuck with hybrids and 4 cylinders. Like the 70s when everyone packed in their big blocks and imaginations. But thats an entirely different subject Now where did I put that Lottery ticket...
