Need some axle help.
« on: March 09, 2008, 09:08:45 PM »

Planning to shorten down a E body 8 3/4 in order to run the correct off set wheel I'm looking for ( Torq Thrust D 15x8.5, 3.75 Backspace)
69 dart has had springs moved in but not mini tubbed. Plan on running a G60 tire.

Any ideas what kind of axle length I should be shooting for , flange to flange?

Thanks
Mike

Well thing thing to do is mount the tires you plan on running and put them under the car to see were they fit. Then measure, measure, measure.I have mine at the shop now getting cut.
'65 barracuda, no tubbing, 3/4" offset hangers, shimmed back 3/4", 255/60-15 15x7 4.5 backspacing. Taking 1" off each side betwwen the perch and backing plate and 1.5" of the spring width.

That's really the only good advice whenever you start doing custom stuff like that.  Measure twice, cut once.  Works every time.
