I currently have a /6 car and am going to put a 340 in it...it will be primarily a street car but i will definatly want it to have some track time....would the /6 bars because of their weight dynamics with the 340 be unsafe on the street? when you guys talk about the car handling not very well, do you mean that the front lifts alot, or that the car is difficult to steer? this might sound dumb but this thread has now got me thinking about something i never even thought of yet
You'll probably just get allot of body roll when cornering with the /6 bars. With stiffer bars it reduces the body roll.

The slant bars will give a lot of roll inthe corners and too much of a soft, bouncy ride. You need bigger bars for a well balanced street car AND, at least, a front sway bar. Then there's tires, etc.

what would 990's or 1040's do in a street car?
Make your ride stiffer, corner flatter. I have 1.04's in mine, I don't think my shocks even get a chance to do their job.  Stiff. Once I get my steering box fixed so I can control it I'll be able to get a better feel for them but I think they'll be okay.

well as long as the ride wont be dangerous for the street then im keeping the /6 bars...if they'll improve my 60 ft times, then thats an extra bonus too

Dangerous is in the interpretation. It will not be stable in the corners, but to each his own. In my opinion any car regularly driven on the street needs to have the suspension and brakes for superior handling first. Everything else, including horsepower is secondary.

I dont know how exactly everyone drives their street cars here, but i doubt i would really be doing any hard cornering or running hard through twisties...my car is going to be stret strip, so i dont plan on taking corners like a ferrari...i do agree safety is a prime concern, which is why I am concerned about this, but if all i need to worry about is some excessive body roll through corners, then im not too worried, since i can just work around this when driving

How you gonna compensate for crappy handling when your driving down the street at 30 miles an hour and that little kid you didnt see comes running out in front of you crossing the street? It's not that we are out there ripping it up like a ferrari on crack, it's the unexpected stuff that we think about. I make mention of a child in this situation because I have children and think about this kind of stuff daily, but it could be anyone or thing. Handling and stopping power should out-weigh all other factors when building, those who dont take that into consideration first when building will usually end up paying for their failure later.
Slant six bars are best left for race only cars. IMHO.

to each his own...i will be keeping my slant 6 bars...a little child coming out in front of your car is going to be a difficult situation to avoid whether driving a tractor or a honda, its something that no one can be fully prepared for...in fact, driving respbosibly and trying to be aware of whats around you would be the best in that situation, not really what kinda bars you got in your a body...like i said, i think with responsible driving habits i.e. driving the speed limit, being aware of whats around you, not taking corners too fast having slant bars on the street can be done IMO...safety is my main concern, and as long as it is still safe to drive with the /6 bars i will be doing so

If Jeff's Dart had /6 bars then I would have been into the guardrail at 70mph when the left front tire blew out a couple of years ago. When I clamped down the brakes there was no noticeable dive or ill-handling characteristics. So, no I really don't think slant bars are safe, even with a slant.

hey Tony, thats what i figured...some people want to be more safe than others, and i totally respect that, but for me the slant bars will be fine...i've had someone that i trust very much personally tell me that i will be fine, but i just wanted to see what everyone else's opinion was...the verdict- im keepin those /6 bars
