1969 coronet restoration
« on: March 11, 2008, 08:55:25 PM »

It's a 1969 coronet 500, we purchased the car w/ a 400 engine in it and wrong interior for $5000 the car also came with a 1974 440 engine.
-so far we have completely stripped the inside of trunk and interior, then we primered it. We installed a 383 engine, 30 over, ported 516 heads, torker intake, 509 cam etc...
-Right now the car is running and we are putting the interior back together.
-We are going for an "orignal" theme, it was originally a 383-2bbl with bucket seats and console. The car had a 1966 console in it but i got a 1970 console for it for $30.00 Grin

that trans leak came from some plug on the trans that has another plug with a square head in it, it needed to be tightened.
I have no idea what that plug is.

The car is 100% re-wired we even rebuilt the heater. It had a clutch pedal and manual trans brake pedal but we replaced it with an auto set up because it was originally a 727

COOL Coronet!  Cool Cheers
By the way, if you want to sell your 66 console and it's in good condition, with no damage, I'd REALLY like to talk to you! I have a 1966 Coronet 500 and I REALLY need the two piece console body to replace the less than nice original in my car.

Here it is the 2 piece console it has no cracks and is in good shape. This is just the body of it I have everything else for including the original toplates which have a hole for a factory tach.
I know they reproduce the 1967-1970 console but not this one.

-I also have another 2 piece console it is also complete and in great shape (no cracks) but it is red.

Can you please contact me via e-mail so we can talk about your consoles? I'm getting ready to start a COMPLETE interior restoration on my 66, so I'm very interested in talking with you.  Wink Cool

TonyGTS,
Nice Coronet 500.   I particulary like the rear ends on those.    But c'mon, fess up, that's a 400 stroker motor you put in there, isn't it  LOL

By the way, that "plug" you described on the side of the transmission sounds like the 2nd gear band adjuster.   Better check into that, you may have tightened the adjustment and you don't want it too tight...
