This may seem obvious but why didn't you break out the tape measure?

I didn't measure it because it's at the upholstery shop, that's about 25 miles from home. It got a little hot on the way there. So, I was going to try and get a bigger radiator and electric fan to have ready when I get it back. Probably rushing it, but I'm trying to get it ready to take to a car show and was hoping to have everything ready to change out when I get it back from the upholstery shop.

Yep, if they only had one that could measure it from 25 miles away. Again, was just trying to get everything ahead of time so when I get the car back from the upholstery shop I can get it together quick. I hadn't driven it that far and up many hills until I took it over there. I called the upholstery shop, but the guy's out. He's getting a cortizone shot in his back. I may never get my car back.

That is a pretty picture of that special tool though. Where do they carry those?

I'll measure mine when I get down to my folks' house tomorrow.  I plan on putting the largest I can fit between the frame rails.  If I need to, I may even clearance those a little.  I'll post results one sunday for ya.

I just called my dad and had him measure.  Stupid me forgot to measure the frame rails this weekend.  It looks the there is 27" between the front frame rails.  If you cut the flange off both sides and weld them up, the sides of the frame rails are 28.5" apart.  So if you trim the flange a little, you could get one of these to fit.

Thanks MoPowers. I wound up in Texas until Sunday anyway, but I'm going to order it and have it ready when I get back. The upholsterer says I should be able to pick it up Monday. With any luck, I'll have it at the local cruise-ins Friday and Saturday night.

27 wide at the lower frame rails, 21 tall, but you can go a little taller, thickness is up to you. I got my 3 core out of a Jeep Cherokee and brazed brackets on the side. '65 A

I wound up buying a 3 row listed for a 1975 Dart 360 at a local (independent) parts store for $175. It's 21" high and 26" wide. I did have to cut about a 2 1/2" square hole in the radiator support below the bottom nipple to bring it down about 1/4" for clearance. Right now, it's been in the 70s - low 80's here and cruising around (160 degree tstat), it runs about 170 degrees. Tops out about 190 degrees in traffic. Right now anyway, I'm not having to even turn on my electric helper fan.
