power steering box compatibility
« on: March 20, 2008, 10:40:10 AM »

I'm looking to replace the power steering box on my 72 scamp. The current box has tons of slop and pulls to the left slightly even after an alignment.

I can get a ps box from a 70 dart but I'm not sure if it would work on my 72 scamp? The two ps boxes are not identical but I was hoping that they would still be compatible.

Anyone know if I can use the box from the dart in my scamp?

thanks

They all fit.  Manual or Power.  Just make sure you get the right selector size to fit your pitman arm.  Eric  4 speed

A-bodies had small sector pitmans until they went to the large sector in '73.  All others all years were all large sector.

Thanks for the feedback.

After checking the price for a rebuilt power steering box at Napa I think I might just go with one from Them. At $130 it's more money but I know it will work and that there will be a warranty on it.
