They changed the lock on my mail box! WTF!

I got off of work yesterday, it took me over 2 hours to get back to my apartment because of the flooding here in Missouri. I met my girlfriend at the apartment, when I pulled in to the parking lot she was standing at the mail boxes. She couldn't get it open, I hopped out and tried my key, nothing. It looks like a new freaking lock on our box. We haven't been in this apartment for 6 months, Why would they have changed the lock on the mail box all of a sudden?

Anyone ever have this happen? I am hoping that it is just a mistake... but you can imagine how frustrating that would be.

 Surely you've got tools in your trunk that would "fix" that. And then go talk to the one in charge and hand him a hammer
