I have noticed a few references to 1964 Barracuda's here, and it makes me wonder.... How many 1964 Barracuda owners are here? Would be curious as to how close the VIN numbers are.

Big range, 23 433 produced. It is possible though. My good friend had a B5 70 Challenger RT sold new at Prince Albert Dodge in Edmonton AB. He met a fellow in Thunder Bay years later with a B5 70 Challenger RT as well and the funny thing was that the VINs were one digit apart. We could not believe that these two cars were born right next to each other and then met again years 20 years later.

Guess I goofed that one up. I originally intended to mention that I have a 64 and I was curious as to how many others on the board own them. According to VIN decoders found on the web the last six digits were the production sequence number. With only 23,433 being built (5 digits) why would they use a 6 digit sequence number? And from what I have found the sequence number started from 100001. Just curious, I guess.

I think that the first # in the sequence is specific to the plant the built the car.I do believe that on the early valiant and barracuda website there is some info on that. I'll have to find it. Rob

All Hamtramck sequence numbers start at 500001 (for theValiant/Barracuda/Dart models only), and the Los Angeles and St. Louis plant sequence numbers start at 100001, as do all other passenger cars built at the Hamtramck plant.

Well, I have one! There are very few here in the UK, but they were no where near as popular as the 67 and later cars. Mine was imported in 1968, pulled apart about 20 years ago and I've bought the whole thing in boxes! If it was totally original and unmolested, it would be worth restoring. but this one is getting the big block treatment!

It's a Tilton. I had a Keisler, but it failed after about 150 miles.

Well, my '64 Barracuda has arrived from the wilds of Scotland...I've got all the parts (I think!) and it's getting a 500 stroker, 727 and narrowed 8 3/4"... looks like I've got some work to do!

Whoa...Do I have the first one??? Its a '65 model year Formula "S" built in 64. VIN 5540100001, number on radiator support? Seems odd an "S" would be the first down the line for 65...too bad I hacked the inner fenders.... bought it a copper color but the plate said it was silver coded paint so I went back to silver.
