Trying to decide on new shoes for my 73 Dart. I have a line on some 14 inch alum slots, and if that doesn't pan out there is another guy with some 15 inch slots too. Because it is a daily driver I am thinking it would be good to keep things simple and use the same tire size on all 4 corners. Makes the spare tire choice easy too. I like the idea of being able to rotate the tires on a driver as well. In my experience that really increases tire life. On the other hand. My 68 Valiant looks really good with 255/60/14's on the rear and 205/70/14's up front. The 205's work great up front, no rubbing or anything. But I'm thinking they'd look a bit weak out back on the 73. So what says YOU the Jury? Thanks! Chris

On the 73 Dart, I've narrowed my choices down to 2:
1) 14x6 Ralleys on a corners 2) 15x7 steelies (stock 5th ave) on the back, 15x5 steelies (stock c-body) with dishes. I need to figure a tire combo that will give me the same OD tires, front and rear. Obviously....wider on the rear. I'm puttiing on an aftermarket sway bar and I"m thinking backspacing may be an issue up front. Thats why I went with the 5" wides in the BS is 3.5", the BS on the 15x7s is 4.5"

My 68 Dart uses 254/60/15's on 15x8's in the rear and 215/60/15's on 15x7's on the front. Both rallye wheels from Wheel Vintiques. The 15x8's I had to have one of them reset with the right offset, but the 15x7's will hit right without modifications with the same size tire.

I guess what I am driving at (no pun intended) is whether the economy and sensibility of having 4 tires the same size all the way around on a pure daily driver outweighs the "coolness" factor of putting something a little fatter out back.
Like I mentioned, my Valiant looks great with the wider tires out back, but it is only a occasional driver
Has anyone here ever used different sizes on a driver car and come to regret it? If so why?
Thanks,
Chris E.

Yep. Been through that thread. I'm not concerned with "what" will fit. More the economy and convenience of like vs. unlike tire sizes on a daily driven car. I think I may be barking up the wrong tree here

I think you already know the answer. For me though, the same sized tires on thr rear produces a very limited ability to hook up, even at part throttle. So in this respect larger tires are cheaper because they won't burn off so quickly, and safer.
IMHO in all depends on the drivetrain combo, for me I could say that I would feather the throttle at every stop, but I just know that's not true. I've got alot of engine and want enough traction to take advantage, if you're running a 318 or a /6 the same size all around would probably be the better choice

I had a 70 340 Duster with small bolt 14" Ralleys. I had 235 60 R 14s on it and it looked very nice.
The car had a nice stance, had kind a nascar look to it with the same size on all four corners, add just a touch of rake and it looks very nice.
Regards
Joe

put the big tires in the back, there is really no point of having the same size tires all the way around on fun cars like ours,
