Wiper Seals?
« on: April 10, 2008, 02:04:56 PM »

Hi, I have a 68 dart and I know the wiper seals need to be replaced, but I dont know how.  Did a search and found people talking about them, and that it was a PITA but none said how.  Thanks guys.

schumacher engine mounts  sells them, you need to take the wiper linkage off and take the pivots down, the seal the fit over the wiper pivots they are really tight fitting put a little grease will help. they also includes gaskets for the base.cost around 12 for a set jet-taz

Ok, so am I correct in thinking that these new seals will cover the hole on the body where the wipers come out?  If not how do I actually get underneath the wipers.

Someone on the site made a set using a couple of valve stems. Might try that.  Grin

Yes, the new seals will cover the holes in the body, amongst other things. More importantly, they prevent water from running down the shaft and dripping on your feet. The lower gaskets, as mentioned, on the cowl plenum is the other half of the equation. Adding a zerk fitting to the pivot provides additional lubrication and insurance against water passage.

I've got pics here. Scroll down the page: http://www.70duster440.com/misc.html
