I want to paint my 69 Swinger as to the original bright red as possible but I want to use a newer paint with a base and clear coat. Does anyone know of a distributor and what the color code is?

Go to a paint store in your area and ask to look at some paint chips for 2007 vehicles. THere are some stock GM colors that are really bright red, but I ended up picking up a 2007 Viper red for my bumblebee stripe, it had a little more orange in it, but it will match my interior better.

You can always dig into the paint chips: I used a Dupont number from the chip book it was RS 908. I call it "Retina Melting Red" but the real name is "Spectramaster Red". It is a true two stage paint. The base color is called "ChromaBase" and you can shoot your favorite Urethane clear coat over that. The pic doesn't do it justice as after staring at it for a while everything's green and your eyes hurt.

Thanks again for the addditional info. I have a 72, 340 Swinger that is Viper Red, so when I got the 69 Swinger it already had all the parts for a blue interior (carpet, liner, door panels, etc) that came with it. However I really want to paint it the bright red since that is what my 1st 69 was when I got out of school in 69. So I guess I will be selling the blue components on Ebay later.
