Hey guys. I'm sick of my electrical gremlins caused by my bulkhead connector. I've cleaned it, scrubbed it, and applied di-electric grease. but I've had it. How have you guys eliminated that connector? I am all for riveting on a piece of aluminum over the hole and drilling a hole for a large grommet to feed the wires thru. but what about the wires? solder them together or install a gm style connector? I'm not worried about maintaining any sort of originality. any help or photos would be greatly appreciated.

I've performed the brighter headlight repair and the amp meter by-pass repair from the electrical tech. They have good advice, but didnt really address what I'm looking for. Thanks though. I recommend everyone read the electrical tech on that site.

What I'd like to do is get a large cannon plug that threads together (like aircraft cannon plugs) for security, then have a seperate hole for the large gauge wire powering the dash equipment (after doing the ammeter elimination). I'm still keeping my eyes open, and I'll post up if I ever find anything.

The problem is the female ends opening up. This can be fixed by removing them one at a time and closing the gap a little. This is a lot less work than what you are talking about doing.

Yea, I would like to use a plane bulkhead connector but don't know where to get them.

We've got a shit ton of different ones in what we call our "bench stock" (free-to-grab parts to just grab from the drawer when needed for a jet), but they all use way too small a wire gauge and don't have nearly enough "pins" to accomodate the number of wires that pass through the bulkheads on our Mopars. Not that it'd be exactly legal to just be swiping them for personal use anyway...

Most manufacturers will use two or three pins at least for higher amperage circuits, example of all three wires feed the one power circuit and three more feed the ground side of the same circuit.

Had 7 volts going to my voltage regulator. had a huge voltage drop at the ignition wire terminal at the bulkhead. drilled out the terminal and ran a solid wire through there. now I've got 12.7 volts when its running at the voltage regulator. battery voltage 13.7v. Almost there. Only 1 more volt to free from the electrical goblins. Good stuff.

I re did my wiring. I have no heater or wipers making it alot easier. i covered up the hole and put everything under the dash, now there is only one hole in the firewall for 6 wires. alt.,water temp, ign.,oil press.,starter and trans. there is another hole near the inner fender for the headlight wires.
