Front Coil Overs
« on: April 18, 2008, 12:03:24 PM »

I'm contemplating ditching my torsion bars and using coilovers instead.  Besides header clearance, are there any other benefits to going this route?

Do coilovers provide more front-end movement?

So, the benefits seem to be header clearance and adjustablility.  Anything else?

Since I have to build a custom set of headers regardless, that shouldn't be a problem.  Plus, there are plenty of good adjustable shocks available and height is easily adjusted w/ a torsion bar set-up.

I guess I just made my decision.

Rick

Tubular upper control arms $300
Coil-over shocks (single adjustable) w/ upper stud mounts $500

The shock mount should be tied into the front cage strut.  The lower control arm also needs to be slightly modified so it doesn't fall out.

I probably won't end up doing it though, because I want the most front end travel possible.
