After 38 years....it's time. I'm giving my 440 Swinger to my step-son. I bought it new from Towson Dodge (Maryland) in September of 1970; originally a 318 with 904 transmission and a 7-1/4" 2.76 rear. Pretty much a standard Dart with one exception....it is a factory (dealer option) two-tone paint.....I have never seen another one. Today it is powered by a 1971 warmed over 440....w/ 727 transmission and a 8-3/4..3.55 ratio rear.....and lots of extras. For the past several years I've lost the desire to work on it so it has just been sitting in the garage. My step-son has been saying for years now how nice it would look in his garage. He knows it is going to take a little work to bring it back to it's full potential. Today is the day that he will be picking it up along with the boxes and boxes of spare parts. He lives about 2 hours north so I'll be keeping check on how he takes care of my baby. I'll make sure he joins ....so that he can get the best advise available. Anyone one here live near Stark, Middleburg or Green Cove Springs, Florida? That's where he lives. I'll still be checking out every day. Now my priority is to lower my golf handicap. After 40 plus years of hacking away at those little white balls I'm finally getting down into the 80s and enjoying retirement. PS: My step-son promised he would pass the Swinger on to my grandson if he ever decides he would like to have it.

Thats a very generous thing to do. I'll bet he appreciates it. I had a lot a help from my dad on the Valiant and there's no way it would have happened without him. I think what you're doing really helps bring the younger generation into the hobby, at least thats what happened to me. That's a mighty nice thing for you to do!

That is really nice. I'll bet he doesn't see you as a step dad. That's something my step dad would have done. I really miss him.

I have to agree that you are very generous. When you have responsible children, it is a privelege and an honor to pass on the family heir-looms to them. God bless you!!!

Our grandson likes to remind us " when you die Grandpa, I'll take really good care of your cars and hotwheels" It is such a sweet thought, but we don't want to die just yet!

I took some pictures of it loaded on his trailer.....will try to post when I get them back on a CD. Joe said he will be joining ....I told him there is a great bunch of guys and girls here and a world of imformation. He will be coming on as "CW04Joe"......CW04 is for his rank in the US ARMY. He will become a WO5 next year...he thinks. 440Ken

It was really a strange feeling walking out into the garage Sunday morning and not seeing the car. Then it dawned on me......today is the first time in 52 years that I didn't have a hot rod car of some sort......NONE! Joe called and said he took the car out for a ride and he loved it.....so did a couple of his buddies.

Ron Ron, I remember you once saying that you worked at Towson Dodge/ Back in 1970 they were located near the intersection of Pleasant Plains and Joppa. My salesman was Jack Miles, I think he died quite a few years ago. Is Glenn still Parts Manager? If he is tell him. Ken (from Murray Corp.) said hello. He was always saving me old catalogs, price books and later micro-fiche. I know may step-son will get a lot of enjoyment from the Swinger. The next time I get up to Maryland I'll have to look you up. I may be coming up there for my 50th year reunion.....Poly class of 1959.
